매년 3월 24일은 결핵균 발견을 기념하고 결핵 퇴치를 위한 사회적 분위기 조성을 위해 지정된 법정기념일인 ‘결핵예방의 날’이다.
시는 23일부터 24일까지 이틀간 보건소 1층에서 내소자를 대상으로 ‘결핵 바로 알기 모바일 퀴즈 이벤트’를 실시한다.
이어 25일에는 유동인구가 많은 자유시장 고객지원센터 앞에서 시민들을 대상으로 결핵 조기 검진의 중요성과 예방수칙을 홍보할 예정이다.
특히 면역력이 약해 결핵 발생 위험이 높은 65세 이상 어르신을 대상으로 ‘증상이 없어도 매년 1회 무료 검진’의 필요성을 집중 홍보한다.
시 관계자는 “결핵은 조기에 발견해 꾸준히 치료하면 완치가 가능한 질환”이라며 “이번 캠페인을 통해 결핵에 대한 경각심을 높이고 시민들이 스스로 건강을 관리하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
