대전 서구, 만년초 통학로서 ‘아이 먼저’ 교통 캠페인 진행

대전 서구가 만년초등학교 주변 통학로에서 어린이 보행 안전문화 확산을 위한 ‘아이 먼저’ 교통안전 캠페인을 벌였다. 등굣길 위험을 줄이기 위해 행정과 학교, 학부모 단체, 운전자 단체가 함께 현장에 나선 것이다. 

서구는 23일 초등학생 등교 시간에 맞춰 진행한 이번 캠페인에 구청 교통과와 만년초등학교, 둔산녹색어머니회, 둔산모범운전자회 관계자 등 30여 명이 참여했다고 밝혔다. 참가자들은 ‘횡단보도 앞 일단 멈춤, 아이 먼저 보내주세요’라는 문구가 담긴 현수막과 팻말을 들고 운전자들의 주의를 환기했다. 학생들에게는 교통안전 안내문을 나눠주며 일상에서 지켜야 할 보행 수칙을 알렸다.

이번 활동은 개학기 통학로 안전을 생활 속 실천으로 연결하려는 시도라는 점에서 의미가 있다. 어린이 교통사고는 대형 사고보다도 운전자의 순간적인 부주의, 통학 시간대 집중되지 않은 주의력에서 비롯되는 경우가 적지 않다. 결국 통학로 안전은 시설 정비만으로 완성되지 않고, ‘먼저 멈추는 습관’을 운전자와 지역사회 안에 얼마나 뿌리내리게 하느냐에 달려 있다.

Seo-gu announced that approximately 30 people participated in the campaign, which was held on the 23rd to coincide with elementary students' arrival time.
