대전광역시와 대전연구원이 지역 특성에 맞춘 지속 가능한 도시 발전 방향을 모색하고자 머리를 맞댔다.
대전시는 25일 목원대학교 콘서트홀에서 대전연구원과 공동으로 '지속 가능한 도시모델 구현을 위한 대전 도시재생 세미나'를 개최하고, 도시재생의 실효성을 높이기 위한 광역 거버넌스 고도화 방안을 심도 있게 논의했다.
이번 세미나에는 최진혁 대전연구원장, 이희학 목원대학교 총장, 이재우 한국도시재생학회장 등 유관 기관 관계자와 전문가 100여 명이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.
특히 본 행사가 시작되기에 앞서 대전연구원과 목원대학교, 한국도시재생학회 간의 유기적인 협력을 약속하는 업무협약 체결식이 진행되어 도시재생 연구와 인재 양성을 위한 연대 기반을 다졌다.
세미나는 크게 두 개의 세션으로 나누어 진행되었다. 첫 번째 세션에서는 도시재생 인력과 조직의 전문성 강화를 핵심 의제로 다루며, 현재 전문인력 육성 현황을 진단하고 앞으로 해결해야 할 과제들을 짚어보았다.
이어진 두 번째 세션에서는 민관협력형 저층 노후주거지 정비를 주제로 삼아, 주민과 공공이 함께 참여하는 집수리 및 주거 정비 사업 모델을 살펴보고 대전 지역 실정에 최적화된 광역 단위 협력체계 구축 방안에 대해 열띤 토론을 벌였다.
그동안 대전시는 총 19곳의 도시재생 사업지에 4,237억 원 규모의 마중물 사업비를 투입하며 구도심 활성화에 집중해 왔다. 현재까지 8개 지역의 사업이 성공적으로 준공되었으며, 나머지 11개 지역에서도 활발히 사업이 추진되고 있다.
대전시는 국토교통부 주관 신규 공모에도 적극적으로 참여하고 있다. 지난 2024년 중구 대흥동 뉴빌리지 사업을 시작으로, 2025년에는 대덕구 중리동 노후주거지 정비 지원사업과 오정 도시재생 혁신지구 국가시범지구 사업이 연이어 선정되는 결실을 보아 단계별로 사업을 밟아가는 중이다.
아울러 대전시는 이달 11일 2026년도 신규 공모사업에도 신청서를 접수하고 발표평가를 비롯한 후속 선정 절차를 착실히 준비하고 있다.
대전시는 앞으로도 자치구와 긴밀하게 연계하여 지역 고유의 특성을 살린 특화 사업을 발굴하고, 이를 통해 대전만의 차별화된 도시재생 모델을 구체화해 나갈 계획이다.
대전시는 이번 세미나를 발판 삼아 정책의 현장 수용성을 높이고 민관 협력 기반을 더욱 공고히 다져 지속 가능한 도시재생 정책을 가속할 방침이다.

To date, Daejeon City has focused on revitalizing the old city center by investing 423.7 billion won in seed funding into a total of 19 urban regeneration project sites.
