대전광역시 서구의회가 25일 제295회 임시회 제2차 본회의를 끝으로 제9대 의회의 정규 회기 일정을 모두 종료했다. 이번 폐회는 지난 4년간 구민의 대의기관으로서 달려온 제9대 서구의회의 공식적인 의정활동을 마무리하는 자리였다.
조규식 서구의회 의장은 폐회사를 통해 그동안의 소회를 밝혔다.
조 의장은 제9대 서구의회가 구정 운영에 대한 합리적인 견제와 균형을 기본 원칙으로 삼아 구민과 소통하며 올바른 구정 방향을 이끌기 위해 책임감 있는 의정활동을 펼쳐왔다고 평가했다.
아울러 집행부와의 견해 차이나 정당 간의 정책적 이견으로 진통을 겪기도 했지만, 대화와 타협이라는 의회 민주주의의 가치를 통해 갈등을 해결하며 주어진 책무를 성실히 수행해 왔음을 덧붙였다.
이날 열린 제2차 본회의에서는 지역의 주요 현안과 주민 생활 밀착형 과제들을 다루는 의원들의 5분 자유발언이 이어졌다.
최지연 의원은 갑천생태호수공원 조성 과정에서 시민 목소리 반영 및 활용성 제고 방안 제안을 했고, 신혜영 의원은 방위사업청 대전 이전에 따른 지역 경제 파급 효과 및 서구 발전 연계 대책 촉구 했다.
박용준 의원은 주민 편의를 위한 둔산3동 행정복지센터 신청사 건립의 조속한 검토 요구를 했고, 손도선 의원은 성천초등학교 유휴 부지 활용에 대한 사전 대비 및 공백 없는 준비를 강조 했고, 신진미 의원은 출산 가정의 부담을 덜기 위한 민관협력형 산후조리원 도입 필요성을 제기 했다.
서구의회는 이날 자유발언 외에도 각 상임위원회별로 심도 있게 심사해 올라온 각종 조례안과 동의안 등 민생 및 현안 안건들을 최종 심의하고 의결했다.
조규식 의장은 마지막으로 지난 4년간 서구의회가 풀뿌리 민주주의의 가치를 실천할 수 있도록 아낌없는 성원과 격려를 보내준 서구민들에게 깊은 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

Councilor Park Yong-jun requested an expedited review of the construction of a new building for the Dunsan 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center to improve resident convenience, Councilor Son Do-seon emphasized the need for advance preparation and seamless planning regarding the utilization of the idle site at Seongcheon Elementary School, and Councilor Shin Jin-mi raised the necessity of introducing a public-private partnership postpartum care center to alleviate the burden on families with newborns.
In addition to the free speeches, the Seo-gu Council held final deliberations and passed resolutions on various bills concerning public welfare and pending issues, including ordinances and motions that had been thoroughly reviewed by each standing committee.
