대전 서구가 국토교통부의 '노후주거지정비 지원사업' 공모 선정을 위해 중앙정부와 직접 협력을 강화한다.
앞서 서철모 구청장은 지난 24일 세종 정부청사에서 정의경 국토도시실장을 만나 사업 필요성과 기대효과를 강조하며 지원을 요청했다.
서구는 노후 저층 주거지가 밀집한 갈마1동을 대상지로 선정해 주차시설 확충, 복합커뮤니티 공간 조성, 주거환경 개선 등 종합 정비를 추진할 계획이다. 기존 도시재생·정비사업 경험을 바탕으로 공모 준비를 철저히 마쳤다.
이번 방문은 사업 의지와 준비 태세를 중앙에 알리고 정책 연계성을 높이기 위한 전략으로 풀이된다.
서구 관계자는 "주민 삶의 질 향상과 지역 경쟁력 강화를 위한 핵심 사업"이라며 "긴밀한 협력으로 반드시 선정되도록 하겠다"고 밝혔다.
