<브레이크뉴스 강원 = 김일웅 기자> 우상호 더불어민주당 강원특별자치도지사 예비후보가 연세대학교 원주세브란스기독병원을 방문해 도내 의료 현장을 점검하고 관계자들과 의견을 나눴다.
우 예비후보는 권역응급의료센터(닥터헬기)를 비롯해 희귀질환센터, 해바라기센터, 신생아집중치료실 등을 차례로 둘러보며 의료 현장의 목소리를 청취했다. 현장에는 백순구 의무부총장과 김장영 의과대학장 등 병원 주요 관계자들이 동행해 의료 현안에 대해 설명했다.

이날 현장 점검에서 우 예비후보는 “강원도는 면적이 넓고 고령 인구 비중이 높아 의료 서비스의 역할이 그 어느 지역보다 막중하다”며, “도민들이 겪는 '병원 가기 힘든 현실'을 무겁게 받아들이며, 열악한 환경 속에서도 헌신하는 의료진의 노고에 깊은 감동과 경의를 표한다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “원주세브란스기독병원이 강원 의료의 거점으로서 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 재차 확인했다”며, “병원이 제 역할을 다할 수 있도록 돕는 차원을 넘어, 의료 소비자들에게 실질적인 혜택이 돌아갈 수 있는 정책을 만들겠다”고 강조했다.
