<브레이크뉴스 홍천 = 김일웅 기자> 홍천군이 강원특별자치도가 주관한 ‘강원 스테이(GANGWON STA-E) 시범 사업’ 공모에 최종 선정돼 총사업비 4억 원(군비 2억 원, 도비 2억 원)을 확보하는 쾌거를 거뒀다.
‘강원 스테이 시범사업’은 지역 내 유휴시설을 체류 공간으로 탈바꿈시키고 지역 특화 프로그램을 운영함으로써, 생활 인구 유입을 촉진하고 지역에 새로운 활력을 불어넣기 위해 추진되는 강원도의 핵심 사업이다.
홍천군은 이번 공모에서 ‘외국인 주민 가족 초청 스테이 하우스 조성 사업’을 기획해 강원 스테이 하우스 지원사업 분야에 최종 이름을 올렸다.
군은 확보된 사업비를 바탕으로 홍천읍 결운리에 위치한 구(舊) 결운2리 경로당을 전면 리모델링해, 외국인 주민 가족이 안락하게 머물 수 있는 체류형 주거 공간 2가구를 조성할 계획이다.
이를 통해 홍천군은 외국인 주민 가족의 잦은 방문과 장기 체류를 적극적으로 지원해 생활 인구를 확대하고, 이들이 지역 사회에 안정적으로 뿌리내릴 수 있는 든든한 기반을 다진다는 방침이다. 아울러 방치된 유휴시설을 활용해 정주 여건을 개선하고, 외국인 주민 가족과 지역 주민 간의 문화적 교류를 넓혀 지역 소멸 위기 극복과 활력 회복에도 크게 기여할 것으로 전망된다.
