【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=제천시는 지난 25일 교육생 79명이 참석한 가운데 농업기술센터 농업인교육장에서 ‘제19기 제천시농업인대학 개강식’을 개최했다.
이날 개강식에서는 교육과정 안내 등 학사 일정을 공유하고, 첫 교육으로 진드기매개 감염병 예방교육과 농작업 안전교육이 이뤄졌다.
올해는 사과 재배 전 과정 전문기술과 단계별 심화교육을 실시하는 ‘사과학과’와 양념채소 품목별 재배기술, 토양관리 및 병해충 관리 교육을 중심으로 하는 ‘양념채소학과’를 운영한다. 각 과정은 이론교육과 선진지 견학을 병행해 농업 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 실질적인 기술과 역량을 배양하는 데 중점을 둔다.
제천시장 권한대행 최승환 부시장은 “농업을 둘러싼 환경이 빠르게 변화하는 만큼 현장에서 바로 활용할 수 있는 실용적인 교육 운영에 중점을 두고 있다”라며 “농업인대학을 통해 지역 농업인의 경쟁력을 높이고 안정적인 소득 기반을 마련하는 데 기여하겠다”라고 말했다.
시는 앞으로도 신규농업인 기초영농기술교육과 영파머스마켓 운영 등을 통해 농업인의 안정적인 영농 정착을 지원하고 지역 농업의 경쟁력을 강화해 나갈 방침이다.
