<브레이크뉴스 홍천 = 김일웅 기자> 홍천군이 지역을 대표하는 특산물인 ‘6년근 홍천 인삼’의 명성과 글로벌 경쟁력을 지켜내기 위해, 급변하는 기후 환경에 맞선 대대적인 재배 혁신에 팔을 걷어붙였다.
홍천군은 최근 심각해진 이상기후 현상과 재배지 연작으로 인한 생산성 저하 문제를 근본적으로 타개하기 위해, 총 7.3ha 규모의 '인삼 기후변화 및 연작장해 대응 5개 사업'을 본격 추진한다고 27일 밝혔다.

우선 기후변화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위한 첨단 환경 개선에 나선다. 기존 해가림 시설이 가진 고온 취약성을 보완하고자 환기 효율이 뛰어난 이중구조 하우스와 도포형 차광자재를 전격 도입한다. 또한, 폭염과 병충해에 강한 내염·내병성 신품종(천량, 고원) 종자를 적극 보급해 안정적인 기후 적응형 생산 기반을 단단히 다질 계획이다.
인삼 농가의 고질적인 골칫거리인 ‘연작 장해(동일 토지 반복 재배 시 병해충 증가 및 생산성 감소)’ 해결을 위한 획기적인 처방도 병행한다. 토양 소독과 비닐 멀칭을 한 번에 처리할 수 있는 토양소독기를 선도적으로 공급하고, 객토 및 땅깎기(절토) 기술을 도입해 토양 내 병해충을 원천적으로 제거한다. 군은 이를 통해 농가의 노동력과 생산비를 무려 50% 이상 파격적으로 절감할 수 있을 것으로 내다보고 있다.
