현장 연수를 통해 실제적인 교육 효과를 높이는 한편, 다문화 교육의 기반도 한층 넓어지고 있다.
시교육청은 27일 대구세계시민교육센터에서 이중언어강사 21명을 대상으로 ‘2026 이중언어강사 역량 강화 연수’를 열었다.
기존 프로그램 운영 경험을 살려, 실제 사례를 중심으로 수업 기술을 공유한 점이 주목된다.
현재 대구에서는 17개 학교, 27개 방과후 이중언어 강좌가 진행 중이다. 중국어, 베트남어, 러시아어, 일본어, 몽골어 등 다양한 언어를 배우며, 이주배경학생과 일반학생이 함께 수업에 참여한다. 학생들은 언어 능력만 쌓는 것이 아니라, 서로의 문화를 직접 경험하고 이해하는 기회도 얻고 있다.
이날 연수에는 김태규 교수가 강단에 올라, 수업 몰입도 높이는 방법부터 놀이 기반 활동, 듣기·말하기·읽기·쓰기 등 영역별 지도법까지 실제 적용 가능한 다양한 수업 노하우를 전했다.
특히, 다양한 배경의 학생들이 함께 어우러지는 교실에서 활용할 수 있는 방법들이 중점적으로 다뤄졌다.
현장에서도 반응이 긍정적이다. 한 강사는 “구체적인 수업 활동을 배울 수 있었고, 동료 강사들과 소통할 기회도 많았다”며 “학생들이 더 즐겁게 실력을 키울 수 있도록 수업에 적극 반영하겠다”고 전했다.
이번 사업을 이끄는 강은희 대구시교육감은 이중언어교육의 중요성을 강조했다. 강 교육감은 “이중언어는 서로 다른 문화를 이해하고 존중하는 마음의 다리이자, 미래의 경쟁력”이라며 “이주배경학생의 언어자산이 우리 사회의 다양성과 포용성을 키울 수 있도록, 관련 교육을 적극적으로 확대해나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Daegu Superintendent of Education Kang Eun-hee, who is leading this project, emphasized the importance of bilingual education. Superintendent Kang stated, "Bilingualism is a bridge of the heart that understands and respects different cultures, as well as a competitive edge for the future," adding, "We will actively expand related education so that the linguistic assets of students with immigrant backgrounds can foster diversity and inclusiveness in our society."
