【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대한민국교육감협의회 강은희 교육감이 10대 임기 마지막 총회에서 교육자치 강화와 협의회 운영 방향을 직접 제시하며 존재감을 드러냈다.
협의회는 지난 26일 부산 윈덤그랜드호텔에서 제107회 총회를 열고 주요 교육 현안을 논의했다.
이날 회의는 10대 협의회의 사실상 마지막 총회로, 전국 시도교육감과 교육청 관계자 등 약 200명이 참석했다.
강 교육감은 개회사에서 “부산에서 제10대 대한민국교육감협의회 마지막 회의이자 제107회 총회를 개최하게 되어 의미가 깊다”며 “그동안 협의회는 언제나 더 나은 내일의 교육을 만들기 위해 노력해왔다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “교육계의 다양한 현안에 함께 지혜를 모아 준 교육감들께 감사드린다”며 “차기 제11대 협의회의 방향과 철학에 대해 깊은 논의를 부탁한다”고 전했다.
총회에서는 ‘아동학대 사안에 대한 교육감 의견의 실효성 보장’을 포함해 7건의 안건이 심의·의결됐다. 또 ‘교육자치 강화를 위한 교육감협의회 운영 방안’이 집중 논의됐다. 협의회는 지방교육자치 협력 강화, 미래교육 발굴 및 확산, 대국민 소통 확대 등을 차기 협의회 핵심 과제로 선정했다.
특히 이날 논의는 중앙중심 교육정책 구조를 넘어서 교육감 협의체의 역할을 새롭게 정립하려는 시도로 풀이된다.
교육계 내부에서는 중앙정책 거버넌스 강화와 협의회 기능 개편 필요성이 제기됐고, 교육자치 확대를 위한 제도적 기반 마련이 주요 과제로 꼽혔다.
한편 협의회는 2026년 학교예술강사 지원사업과 관련해 공동 입장문을 채택하기로 했다.
최근 정부가 해당 사업 재원을 지방교육재정으로 전환하려 하는 데 대해, 지방교육재정에 과도한 부담이 전가될 수 있다는 우려도 반영됐다.
