[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장이 27일 오전 사상구 엄궁농산물도매시장을 방문해 유통 종사자들과 간담회를 열고, 시설 현대화와 안전 강화를 위한 대폭적인 지원을 약속했다.
고물가와 소비 위축으로 어려움을 겪는 현장의 돌파구를 찾기 위해 마련된 이번 간담회에는 박 시장과 김창석 시의원, 도매시장법인 및 중도매인 대표 등 관계자 19명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 노후 시설 개선, 저온저장고 확충을 통한 물류 효율화, 이상기후 대비 근무 환경 개선 등 시장 운영 전반에 걸친 현안을 심도 있게 논의했다.
부산시는 최근 시장 내 화재 사고 등에 따른 안전관리 중요성이 커짐에 따라 행정력을 집중할 계획이다. 구체적으로 노후 화재 예방용 차단기를 전면 교체하고 지능형 화재 탐지 설비를 보강한다. 이를 위해 시는 올해 시설 개선 예산을 전년 대비 3억 5,000만 원 증액했으며, 화재 예방을 위한 안전설비 예산 3억 2,000만 원도 추가로 확보해 투입하기로 했다.
박 시장은 "오늘 제안된 의견들을 시정에 적극 반영해 단기적인 보강을 넘어 10년, 20년을 내다보는 지속 가능한 시장 발전 정책으로 이어가겠다"며 "현장의 목소리를 바탕으로 안전 강화와 근무 환경 개선을 지속적으로 추진하겠다"고 강조했다.

또한 박 시장은 기후변화와 급격한 유통 트렌드 변화 속에서 현장 소통의 중요성을 언급하며, 엄궁시장이 대한민국 농산물 유통의 중심지로 재도약할 수 있도록 정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다고 덧붙였다.
간담회를 마친 박 시장은 도매시장 현장을 직접 점검하며 새벽부터 업무에 매진하는 유통인들을 격려하는 것으로 소통 행보를 마무리했다. 시는 향후 서부산 교통망 확충 및 물류 인프라 개선과 연계해 시장의 중장기 경쟁력을 강화할 방침이다.

Mayor Park Heong-joon visited the Umgung Agricultural Wholesale Market on Wednesday morning to meet with distribution workers and pledge significant support for facility modernization and safety enhancements.
The meeting was organized to address challenges in the agricultural distribution sector caused by high inflation and stagnant consumption. Attendees included City Council member Kim Chang-seok and 19 representatives from wholesale corporations and intermediate wholesalers. Participants discussed critical issues such as aging facilities, the expansion of cold storage for better logistics, and improving work environments to counter extreme weather conditions.
The City of Busan plans to focus administrative resources on safety management following recent market fire incidents. Specific measures include the full replacement of outdated circuit breakers and the reinforcement of intelligent fire detection systems. To support these efforts, the city increased its facility improvement budget by 350 million won compared to last year and secured an additional 320 million won specifically for fire prevention equipment.
"We will actively reflect the opinions shared today into city administration to ensure these are not just short-term fixes, but sustainable development policies that look 10 to 20 years ahead," Park said. "Based on the voices from the field, we will continuously push for facility upgrades, safety reinforcements, and better working conditions."
Park also emphasized the importance of field communication amid rapid changes in distribution trends and climate change. He added that the city would provide unwavering policy support to help the Umgung market re-establish itself as a central hub for South Korean agricultural distribution.
Following the discussion, the mayor inspected the market operations and encouraged workers who had been on-site since the early morning hours. The city intends to strengthen the market’s long-term competitiveness by linking it with the expansion of West Busan’s transportation network and logistics infrastructure.
