군은 3월 27일 군청 상황실에서 밀양문화관광재단과 공연예술 활성화 및 축제 성과 창출을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다. 이날 협약식에는 옥천군수와 옥천전국연극제 추진위원장, 밀양문화관광재단 관계자 등 20여 명이 참석해 양 도시 간 실질적인 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이번 협약은 전국 58개 극단이 참여하며 가능성을 입증한 ‘옥천전국연극제’가 대한민국 대표 공연예술 축제인 밀양공연예술제의 운영 노하우와 콘텐츠를 접목해 한 단계 도약할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 기대를 모은다.
양 기관은 ▲상호 간 축제 분야 우수 프로그램 교류 및 협력 ▲지역 공익적 사업 및 지역 문화 발전을 위한 공동 노력 ▲기타 상호 협력이 필요하다고 인정되는 사항 등에 다각적인 협력을 추진하기로 했다.
특히 옥천군은 밀양의 축제 운영 경험과 검증된 콘텐츠를 적극 도입해 오는 10월 개최 예정인 ‘제3회 옥천전국연극제’의 완성도를 높이고, 전국 단위 대표 축제로의 도약을 본격화할 방침이다.
이와 함께 옥천군은 주민과 함께 만들어가는 축제 기반 구축에도 힘을 쏟고 있다. 군은 지난 26일 옥천공동체허브 ‘누구나’에서 지역 극단 관계자와 청년, 주민 등이 참여한 가운데 소통 간담회를 개최하고 다양한 의견을 수렴했다.
이번 간담회는 추진위원회의 제안을 반영해 마련된 자리로, 민간 문화예술 서포터즈 ‘옥천프렌즈’ 구축을 위한 첫걸음이자 주민 참여형 축제로 나아가기 위한 기반을 다지는 계기가 됐다.
