국가보훈부 경기북부보훈지청이 제11회 ‘서해수호의 날’을 기념해 참전유공자와 미래세대가 함께 걷는 특별한 여정을 시작했다.
경기북부보훈지청(지청장 박용주)은 3월 27일부터 29일까지 2박 3일간 전적지 순례 프로그램 「오늘을 지킨 평화, 함께 걷다」를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 세대 간 소통을 통해 호국정신을 계승하고 보훈의 가치를 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.
순례 첫날인 27일, 월남참전자회 양주시지회와 고엽제전우회 고양시지회 소속 유공자 30명, 그리고 ‘보훈외교단’ 소속 대학생들은 국립대전현충원을 찾아 '제11회 서해수호의 날' 기념식에 참석했다.
이들은 서해수호 55용사의 숭고한 희생을 기리며 묘역을 참배하고, 나라를 위한 헌신의 의미를 되새기는 시간을 가졌다.

이날 현장에는 권오을 국가보훈부 장관이 직접 방문해 순례단을 격려했다.
권 장관은 경기북부 지역 유공자들과 일일이 악수하며 건강을 기원했고, “영웅들의 헌신을 잊지 않고 더욱 정성껏 모시겠다”고 밝히며 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
이어 대학생들과 함께 기념촬영을 진행하는 등 세대를 아우르는 소통의 시간을 이어갔다.

순례단은 첫날 일정을 마친 뒤 28일부터 본격적인 전적지 탐방에 나선다.
28일에는 연천 유엔군 화장장터와 동두천 자유수호평화박물관을 방문하고, 마지막 날인 29일에는 서울 전쟁기념관을 찾아 일정을 마무리할 예정이다.
이번 순례에 참여한 한 대학생은 “교과서에서만 접하던 역사를 유공자 어르신들께 직접 들으며 함께 걸을 수 있어 매우 뜻깊다”며 “우리가 누리는 평화가 얼마나 값진 것인지 다시금 깨닫게 됐다”고 소감을 전했다.
