고조 로터리 클럽은 몰타 내 세 개의 로터리 클럽 중 하나로,
매년 ‘프라이드 어워드(Pride Award)’를 수여한다.
이 상은 고조 지역에서 자원봉사와 지역사회 발전에 헌신한
개인이나 단체에게 주어지는 뜻깊은 상이다.
이번에 초대를 받아 참석하게 되었는데,
행사에서는 로터리언 팀이 몰타 전통 의상과 춤을 선보인 뒤,
각 수상자들에게 봉사상이 전달되는 의미 있는 시간이 이어진다.
고조는 페리로 약 25분이면 닿을 수 있지만,
시상식이 저녁에 열리는 만큼 하루 숙박이 필요하다.
또한 5월 14일에는 오리가미 워크숍에도 초대되어 있어,
이 역시 현지에서 머물러야 하는 일정이다.
이처럼 지역사회를 위해 헌신한 이들을 기리는 행사를 보며,
몰타 전역에서도 이러한 상이 더욱 활성화되면 좋겠다는 생각이 든다.
The Gozo Rotary Club is one of three Rotary clubs in Malta
and presents the annual
“Pride Award.” This meaningful award recognizes individuals
and organizations that have shown dedication to volunteer work
and the development of the local community in Gozo.
I have been invited to attend this event.
The program includes a performance]
by Rotarians in traditional Maltese costumes and dance,
followed by the presentation of awards to each honoree.
Although Gozo is just a 25-minute ferry ride away,
The ceremony takes place in the evening,
making an overnight stay necessary.
I have also been invited to an origami workshop on May 14,
which requires staying at a hotel as well.
Witnessing such an event that honors community dedication makes me think it.
It would be wonderful to see similar awards more widely established across Malta.
ゴゾ・ロータリークラブは、
マルタにある3つのロータリークラブの一つで、
毎年「プライド・アワード（Pride Award）」を授与している。
この賞は、ゴゾ地域においてボランティア活動や地域社会への貢献に尽力した
個人や団体に贈られる意義深いものだ。
今回、この式典に招待され参加することになった。
イベントでは、ロータリアンがマルタの伝統衣装をまとい踊りを披露し、
その後、受賞者一人ひとりに賞が授与される。
ゴゾへはフェリーで約25分と近いが、
式典は夕方に行われるため宿泊が必要となる。
また、5月14日には折り紙ワークショップにも招待されており、
こちらもホテルに滞在する予定だ。
地域社会への貢献を称えるこのような行事を目にし、
マルタ全体でもこうした表彰がさらに広がれば良いと感じた。
