【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 문충운 포항시장 예비후보가 “수십 년간 이어진 낡은 ‘행정가’ 시장 시대를 마감하고 ‘혁신가’ 시장 시대를 열겠다”며 경제와 민생 중심의 시정 운영 구상을 밝혔다.
문 예비후보는 29일 입장문을 통해 “포항시장에 당선된다면 오직 포항의 경제 발전과 민생·복지에 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 강조했다.
그는 시장의 역할을 ‘거시적 리더십’으로 규정하며, 기업·투자 유치와 미래 신산업 발굴·육성, 지역 경제 활성화, 시민 안전 확보 등을 최우선 과제로 제시했다. 반면 공무원 조직 관리와 일상 행정 업무는 전문성을 갖춘 부시장에게 전면 위임하겠다는 구상도 함께 밝혔다.
이를 위해 경북도와의 인사 교류를 통해 검증된 국장급 행정 관료를 부시장으로 요청하겠다고 설명했다. 문 예비후보는 “이 같은 체계가 구축되면 포항시 행정의 효율성과 예측 가능성이 높아지고, 경상북도와의 협력 및 도비 확보에서도 시너지 효과가 클 것”이라고 주장했다.
또 “자리와 권위, 대접을 중시하는 관료주의적 시장 시대와 결별하겠다”며 “성과로 증명하고 경제·민생 현장을 직접 뛰는 시장이 되겠다”고 말했다.
이어 “다른 정치적 욕심은 없다”며 “20년, 30년 후 포항의 미래에 기여했다는 시민 평가를 받는 것이 목표”라고 덧붙였다.
문 예비후보는 “국민의힘 본경선에서 압도적인 성과로 시민의 성원에 보답하겠다”고 밝혔다.
