【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=DGIST(총장 이건우) 융합인재교육원이 지역 일반계 고등학생들의 심화 과학 탐구 역량 강화를 위해 ‘DGIST와 함께하는 고등학교 과학 탐구 동아리 프로그램’을 본격 운영한다.

이번 프로그램은 DGIST 교수진과 고등학교 교사가 협력해 정규 동아리 활동을 체계적으로 지원하는 교육 모델로, 변화하는 대입 제도와 고교학점제 전면 시행에 대응해 일반고 학생들에게 전문적이고 심화된 탐구 기회를 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.
프로그램은 2026년 3월부터 12월까지 진행되며, 경북고, 경북대사대부고, 계성고, 대구여고, 대진고, 도원고, 수성고, 포산고, 함지고, 화원고 등 대구 지역 10개 일반계 고등학교가 참여한다. 학교별 1개 동아리씩 총 10개 팀이 구성되며, 각 동아리에는 탐구 주제에 맞는 DGIST 교수가 매칭돼 지도교사와 함께 밀착 지도를 실시한다.
교육 과정은 학기 중 온·오프라인 탐구 지도와 방학 중 집중 연구로 나뉘어 운영된다. 학기 중에는 기초 이론 학습과 문헌 조사, 연구 주제 설정 등을 중심으로 총 11회 내외의 지도가 진행된다. 이어 방학 기간에는 동아리별 우수 학생 4~5명을 선발해 DGIST 연구실에서 5일간 약 30시간의 심화 연구를 수행하며 실험과 분석, 결과 발표까지 경험하게 된다.
특히 대학의 첨단 연구 인프라를 활용해 실제 연구 환경을 체험하고 전문적인 지도를 받을 수 있다는 점에서 기존 체험형 프로그램과 차별화를 이룬다. 연말에는 결과 보고서 제출과 성과 발표회가 열리며, 우수 학생에게는 DGIST 총장상이 수여될 예정이다.
석창원 융합인재교육원장은 “이번 프로그램은 일반고 학생들이 동아리 활동을 통해 대학의 연구 역량과 교사의 지도 노하우를 함께 경험하며 심화된 탐구를 수행할 수 있도록 돕는 데 의미가 있다”며 “지역사회와 연계한 교육 협력을 확대해 미래 과학기술 인재 양성과 지역 교육 경쟁력 강화에 기여하겠다”고 밝혔다.
DGIST는 이번 협력 모델을 통해 고교 교사의 탐구 지도 전문성을 높이고, 학생들의 학교생활기록부 연계와 연구 성과 창출을 지원하는 등 지역 기반 과학 인재 양성 생태계 확산에 나설 계획이다.

DGIST Launches Science Exploration Club Program for General High Schools… Accelerating the Cultivation of Future Scientific Talent
DGIST (President Lee Kun-woo)’s Institute for Convergence Education is launching the "High School Science Exploration Club Program with DGIST" to strengthen the advanced scientific inquiry capabilities of local general high school students.
This program is an educational model in which DGIST faculty and high school teachers collaborate to systematically support regular club activities. It was established to provide general high school students with opportunities for professional and in-depth inquiry in response to changing university admission systems and the full implementation of the High School Credit System.
The program will run from March to December 2026, with the participation of 10 general high schools in the Daegu region, including Gyeongbuk High School, Kyungpook National University Affiliated High School, Gyesung High School, Daegu Girls' High School, Daejin High School, Dowon High School, Suseong High School, Posan High School, Hamji High School, and Hwawon High School. A total of 10 teams are formed, with one club from each school. A DGIST professor is matched to each club based on their research topic to provide close guidance alongside the supervising professor.
The curriculum is divided into online and offline research guidance during the semester and intensive research during vacations. During the semester, approximately 11 guidance sessions are conducted, focusing on learning basic theories, literature reviews, and setting research topics. Subsequently, during the vacation period, 4 to 5 outstanding students are selected from each club to conduct about 30 hours of in-depth research over five days at DGIST laboratories, gaining experience ranging from experiments and analysis to presenting results.
In particular, this program is differentiated from existing experiential programs by allowing students to experience a real research environment and receive professional guidance by utilizing the university's cutting-edge research infrastructure. At the end of the year, a results report submission and performance presentation will be held, and outstanding students are scheduled to be awarded the DGIST President's Award.
Seok Chang-won, Director of the Convergence Talent Education Center, stated, “This program is significant in that it helps general high school students conduct in-depth research by experiencing both the university’s research capabilities and teachers’ guidance know-how through club activities,” adding, “We will contribute to fostering future science and technology talent and strengthening regional educational competitiveness by expanding educational cooperation linked with the local community.”
Through this cooperation model, DGIST plans to expand the ecosystem for cultivating science talent based in the region by enhancing high school teachers’ expertise in guiding research, and supporting the linkage of research results with students’ school records.
