[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 봄철 양봉농가의 주요 피해 요인인 꿀벌응애류 확산을 막기 위해 방제 교육과 지도를 강화한다고 31일 밝혔다.
꿀벌응애는 애벌레와 성충에 기생해 발육을 저해하는 해충으로 감염 시 폐사나 기형 개체 발생, 마비 증상 등을 유발해 벌통 전체에 피해를 준다.
또 꿀벌응애는 날개 불구 바이러스 등 각종 질병을 옮기는 매개체로 작용해 양봉 산물 생산성을 크게 떨어뜨리기 때문에 적기에 방제하는 것이 중요하다.
이에 진주시는 효과적인 방제를 위해 수벌집을 활용한 물리적 방제와 천연 약제를 우선 사용, 이후 합성 약제를 교차 사용해야 방제 효과를 높인다고 설명하고 있다.
특히 시는 이전에 사용한 약제와 성분이 다른 제품을 순환 사용해야 약제 저항성을 줄이고 방제 효과를 극대화할 수 있다고 강조했다.
진주시 관계자는 “꿀벌 폐사를 막기 위해 세심한 관찰과 적기 방제가 중요하다”며“저항성이 확인된 성분의 약제 사용은 자제해 줄 것”을 당부했다.
한편 진주시는 총 1억3500만원의 예산을 투입해 구제약품과 면역증강제, 소독제를 256개 양봉농가에 무상 공급하고 질병 예방 지원사업도 병행 추진한다.
