【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군은 (재)증평군민장학회가 2026년도 장학생 선발을 완료하고 총 293명에게 2억 7770만 원의 장학금을 지급했다고 밝혔다.
이는 지난해 대비 수혜 인원과 지원 규모가 각각 13명, 2720만 원 증가한 것으로 장학회 설립 이후 최대 규모다.
올해 선발된 장학생은 △바른인성 83명 △예체능특기 12명 △재학성적 우수 44명 △우수대 재학 12명 △입학성적 우수 76명 △지역대학교 입학 1명 △우수대 입학 16명 △희망드림 22명 △꿈드림 5명 △취업 장려 3명 △기능특기 1명 △열정드림 18명 등이다.
장학회는 학업 성취뿐 아니라 인성, 예체능, 취업 준비 등 다양한 분야에서 역량을 발휘한 학생들을 폭넓게 선발해 지역 인재 성장 기반을 확대했다.
올해는 특히 지역 학생들의 학업 경쟁력이 두드러졌다.
형석고등학교에서 서울대학교 합격생을 배출한 데 이어 내신성적 295점 이상의 우수 학생 10명이 입학하는 성과를 거두며 지역 교육의 경쟁력을 입증했다.
또 우수대학에 진학한 학생들이 재학 중에도 우수한 학업 성과를 유지해 ‘재학성적 장학금’을 받는 사례가 꾸준히 늘고 있어, 지역 인재 양성의 선순환 구조가 정착되고 있다는 평가다.
이재영 이사장은 “지역 학생들이 보여준 성취는 꾸준히 이어온 장학사업의 의미 있는 결실”이라며 “앞으로도 학생들이 학업에 전념하고 미래의 꿈을 펼칠 수 있도록 든든한 디딤돌 역할을 지속해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
