경북도는 도내 학자금 대출을 이용한 대학생과 장기 연체로 신용도 판단 정보에 등록된 청년을 대상으로 지원 기준을 완화하고 혜택을 넓힌다고 밝혔다.
우선 학자금 대출 이자 지원은 2017년 이후 한국장학재단에서 대출을 받은 학생을 대상으로, 직전 학기 동안 발생한 이자를 대출 원리금에서 차감하는 방식으로 진행된다.
특히 올해부터는 기존 ‘학자금 지원 8구간 이하’로 제한됐던 지원 대상을 전 구간으로 확대해 보다 많은 학생들이 혜택을 받을 수 있게 됐다.
지원 대상은 본인 또는 직계존속 1명 이상이 공고일 기준 1년 이상 경상북도에 주민등록을 두고 있는 경우로, 경북·대구 소재 대학 재학생 또는 졸업 후 2년 이내 미취업자다.
이와 함께 학자금 대출 장기 연체자를 위한 신용 회복 지원도 강화된다. 해당 사업은 한국장학재단과 분할상환 약정을 체결할 경우 약정금액 일부를 초입금으로 지원하는 제도다.
경북도는 기존 ‘초입금 5% 이내, 최대 100만 원’이던 지원 기준을 ‘초입금 10% 이내, 최대 100만 원’으로 확대해 초기 상환 부담을 낮출 계획이다. 지원 대상은 공고일 기준 1년 이상 도내에 주민등록을 둔 만 39세 이하 청년이다.
이번 사업은 3월 31일부터 경상북도 홈페이지를 통해 공고됐으며, 신청은 전자민원 게시판을 통해 가능하다.
이상수 경상북도 지방시대정책국장은 “청년들이 학자금 부담으로 학업과 진로 설계에 어려움을 겪지 않도록 지원 폭을 확대했다”며 “앞으로도 지역 대학생들이 안정적으로 학업을 이어가고 사회에 진출할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

This program was announced on the Gyeongsangbuk-do website starting March 31, and applications can be submitted via the e-civil complaint board.
