【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=서원대학교는 경상북도 출연기관인 (재)독도재단과 대학교육과 연계한 독도 전문가 양성 기반 구축을 위한 독도 강좌 운영 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 경북·대구지역을 중심으로 추진돼 온 대학 연계 독도교육 협력 사업이 충청권으로 확장되는 첫 사례로, 서원대학교 휴머니티교양대학에 개설된 ‘독도의 역사(담당 교원: 사회교육과 심정보)’ 강좌의 안정적인 운영을 지원하고 독도 전문가 양성과 수료 인증 체계를 구축하기 위해 마련됐다.
협약에 따라 양 기관은 ▲독도 관련 자료 및 콘텐츠 지원 ▲재단 및 외부 전문가 특강 운영 ▲강좌 수료자 대상 ‘독도전문가 과정 수료증’ 발급 ▲우수 수강생 대상 독도 탐방 및 기자단·서포터즈·인턴십 등 재단 프로그램 우선 선발 ▲기타 교과 운영에 필요한 사항 등에 대해 협력할 예정이다.
(재)독도재단 김대식 사무총장은 “재단의 전문성과 대학의 인문교육 역량이 결합해 독도 교육의 기반을 전국으로 확장하는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “강좌를 통해 학생들이 독도에 대한 올바른 이해를 바탕으로 우리 영토의 가치와 의미를 깊이 있게 인식하길 기대한다”라고 말했다.
서원대학교 정재은 교무처장은 “올바른 역사의식 함양은 교양교육이 지향해야 할 핵심 방향 중 하나”라며 “이번 협약을 계기로 독도 전문가 양성을 위한 지원을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.
양 기관은 향후 인문학 기반 교육을 바탕으로 독도에 대한 역사적 이해와 시민 의식을 확산하고 대학교육과 연계한 독도 전문가 양성 체계를 단계적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
