【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군 구도심에 문화예술 활동을 위한 새로운 거점 공간이 문을 열었다.
군은 1일 ‘메리놀 마을창작소 개관식’을 개최하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 이재영 군수를 비롯해 주요 내빈과 지역 주민 등이 참석한 가운데 축하공연, 축사, 테이프 커팅, 시설 관람 순으로 진행됐다.
메리놀 마을창작소는 도시재생 뉴딜사업의 일환으로 조성된 복합문화공간이다.
방치돼 있던 옛 성모유치원 건물을 철거한 뒤 총사업비 25억 원을 투입해 연면적 602㎡, 지하 1층·지상 2층 규모로 새롭게 건립됐다.
1층에는 작품제작공간과 메리놀 전시관, 주민 쉼터가 마련됐고 2층에는 마을 공동작업장과 예술인 레지던시가 조성됐다.
특히 예술인 레지던시는 예술가에게 거주 공간을 제공해 안정적인 창작 활동을 지원하는 공간으로, 지역 문화예술 기반을 확장하는 역할을 맡게 된다.
입주 예술인은 매월 1회 이상 주민 참여 문화예술 프로그램을 운영하며 지역 주민과 예술인이 함께하는 문화 활동을 이어갈 예정이다.
군은 앞서 지난 2월 레지던시 입주 예술인 모집을 통해 1명의 예술인을 선정했으며, 현재 추가 입주 예술인을 모집 중이다.
