계룡시, '두계장터 만세운동' 재현행사 성료

계룡시가 지난 1일 두마초등학교에서 연 두계장터 4·1 독립만세운동 재현행사를 성황리에 마무리했다고 2일 밝혔다. 올해로 107주년을 맞이한 이번 행사는 지역 항일운동의 역사를 시민과 학생들이 함께 되돌아보는 의미있는 자리였다.

계룡문화원의 주관으로 ‘영웅의 함성! 계룡을 깨우다’를 주제로 진행된 계룡문화원 주관 행사에는 이응우 시장과 김범규 계룡시의회 의장, 시·도의원, 논산계룡교육지원청 관계자, 독립유공자 후손, 국가보훈대상자, 시민 등 1,000여 명이 참석하는 등 많은 인파가 몰렸다.

해군홍보대 공연을 막을 연 행사는 독립선언문 낭독, 기념공연, 3·1절 노래 제창, 만세삼창, 거리행진 순으로 이어졌다. 독립유공자 후손이 공군의장대 호위를 받으며 입장했고, 시민들이 감사의 뜻을 담은 액자를 전달하는 순서또한 마련돼 감동을 더했다.

12개 기관·단체가 참여한 부스에서는 올바른 태극기 맞추기, 태극기 바람개비 만들기, 무궁화 키링 만들기, 태극기 페이스페인팅 등 다양한 체험 프로그램도 함께 진행돼 가족 단위 방문객들과 학생들의 큰 호응을 얻었다. 

이응우 시장은 순국선열들의 숭고한 희생과 뜻을 시민들과 함께 나누게 되어 기쁘다며, 미래세대인 학생들이 올바른 역사 인식을 바탕으로 애국정신을 계승해 나가길 바란다고 말했다. 이어 앞으로도 시민과 함께 따뜻한 보훈도시 계룡을 만들어 나가겠다는 뜻을 전했다.

Gyeryong City announced on the 2nd that it successfully concluded the reenactment of the Dugye Market April 1st Independence Movement, held at Duma Elementary School on the 1st. Marking the 107th anniversary this year, the event was a meaningful occasion for citizens and students to reflect together on the history of the local anti-Japanese movement.

Organized by the Gyeryong Cultural Center under the theme "The Roar of Heroes! Awakening Gyeryong," the event drew a large crowd, with over 1,000 attendees including Mayor Lee Eung-woo, Gyeryong City Council Chairman Kim Beom-gyu, city and provincial council members, officials from the Nonsan-Gyeryong Office of Education, descendants of independence movement heroes, national veterans, and citizens. The event, which opened with a performance by the Navy Public Relations Team, proceeded in the order of a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a commemorative performance, the singing of the March 1st Movement song, three cheers of "Hurray!", and a street parade. Descendants of independence activists entered under the escort of the Air Force Honor Guard, and a segment was arranged for citizens to present framed messages of gratitude, adding to the emotional atmosphere.

Various hands-on programs, such as matching the correct Taegeukgi (Korean flag), making Taegeukgi pinwheels, creating Mugunghwa (Hibiscus) keyrings, and Taegeukgi face painting, were held at booths featuring 12 participating organizations and groups, receiving a great response from visiting families and students.

Mayor Lee Eung-woo expressed his pleasure in sharing the noble sacrifices and spirit of the patriotic martyrs with the citizens, and stated his hope that students, the future generation, would carry on the spirit of patriotism based on a correct understanding of history. He further conveyed his intention to continue building a warm and supportive city of Gyeryong for veterans together with the citizens.
