보령시가 2일 보건과 행정, 문화 기능을 한데 통합한 원도심 복합업무 타운 개청식을 열고 운영에 들어갔다.
이번 사업은 민선 8기 공약 중 하나로, 노후청사 정비 및 원도심 기능 회복을 목적으로 추진됐다. 특히, 기존의 보령경찰서와 수도과, 대천1동 청사 등 오래된 건물들을 정비해 경찰서 이전 후, 약화된 원도심 유동성과 생활기능을 공공서비스 재배치를 통해 활성화하는데 초점이 맞춰졌다. 시는 보건소와 아트센터, 대천1동 행정복지센터를 같은 공간에 배치해 이용 편의성을 높였다.
2022년 말부터 시작된 본 사업 소요 예산은 총 441억원으로, 전체 연면적 1만2523㎡인 보건소는 지하 1층과 지상 3층, 행정동 지하 1층, 지상 4층 규모로 조성됐으며, 국비 47억원과 도비 26억원이 투입됐다.
보건소동에는 3개의 과와 진료실, 정신건강복지센터, 치매안심센터, 대회의실, 식당 등이 배치됐고 대천 1동 행정복지센터, 주민자치센터, 중대본부, 아트센터는 행정동에 자리잡았다. 시설은 지난달 23일부터 업무를 개시한 상태다.
