코레일 경북본부(본부장 박찬조)는 중앙선 KTX-이음의 관내 누적 이용객이 지난 5년간 239만 명을 넘어섰다고 밝혔다.
KTX-이음은 2021년 1월 5일 첫 운행을 시작해 안동·영주·풍기·의성 등 경북지역 4개 역에 정차하며 지역 교통 접근성을 크게 개선해왔다. 2025년 말부터는 부전행 열차 운행 횟수가 확대돼 현재 주중 18회, 주말 20회 운행 중이다.
이용객 수 역시 꾸준한 증가세를 보이고 있다. 하루 평균 이용객은 운행 첫해 858명에서 2022년 1,159명, 2023년 1,337명, 2024년 1,468명, 2025년 1,731명으로 늘었으며, 2026년에는 1,974명까지 증가해 개통 초기 대비 2.3배 이상 성장했다.
특히 2024년 9월 18일 추석 연휴 기간에는 하루 3,444명이 이용해 일일 최대 이용객 기록을 세우기도 했다.
주요 역별 이용객도 증가세가 뚜렷하다. 안동역은 2026년 기준 하루 평균 1,140명이 이용해 개통 당시(484명)보다 약 2.4배 증가했으며, 영주역 역시 하루 720명이 이용하는 등 지역 거점역으로 자리매김하고 있다.
박찬조 본부장은 “KTX 개통 22주년을 맞아 영주역과 안동역에서 고객 감사 이벤트를 진행했다”며 “추첨을 통한 사은품 증정과 체험행사, 다과 제공 등 다양한 프로그램에 많은 이용객이 참여해 의미 있는 시간을 보냈다”고 밝혔다.
