이재명 대통령이 3일 제주 4·3 사건 78주년을 맞아 “국가 이름으로 국민이 희생되는 일이 반복되지 않도록 하겠다”고 했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 페이스북을 통해 “국가 폭력에 대해선 살아 있는 한 책임을 회피할 수 없도록 하겠다"며 이같이 적었다.
그러면서 "해방 이후 한국 현대사가 발전·성장을 이뤄왔지만 동시에 국가 폭력 상처도 남겼다"며 "이런 과거를 극복하는 게 대통령으로서 중요 과제"라고 했다.
또 "(제주 4·3은) 고통을 넘어 공동체 회복·진실 규명 길을 보여준 사례”라며 "제주도민들이 오랜 침묵·피해를 딛고 진상 규명·명예 회복에 나선 결과 관련 법 제정·보상 조치가 이뤄졌다"고 했다.
