[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 거제시는 지방세 및 세외수입 체납액 징수를 위해 4월 1일부터 체납차량 번호판 영치 활동을 본격 시행하고 있다고 밝혔다.
이번 영치 활동은 지방세체납팀, 세외수입체납팀, 징수기동TF팀으로 구성된 합동 영치팀이 추진하며, 체납 차량에 대한 현장 단속을 강화해 체납액 징수 실효성을 높이기 위해 실시된다.
시는 아파트 단지 등 차량 밀집지역을 중심으로 시 전역에서 집중 단속을 실시하고 있으며, 휴대용 영치장비와 차량 탑재형 카메라를 활용해 번호판 인식과 영치 활동의 정확성과 효율성을 높이고 있다.
특히, 체납 차량에 대한 번호판 영치뿐만 아니라 고액체납 및 대포차량 등에 대해서는 현장장에서 운행제한 등 압류 조치를 병행하고, 타 시·군 체납 차량도 징수촉탁을 통해 영치하는 등 강도 높은 징수 활동을 전개하고 있다.
앞서 시는 영치 활동에 따른 시민 불편을 최소화하고 자진 납부를 유도하기 위해 3월 1일 체납차량 소유자에게 사전 안내문을 발송한 바 있다.
현재 거제시의 자동차세 체납 현황은 체납자 약 8천여 명에 23만여 건, 31억여 원에 이르는 것으로 나타났다.
