【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경상북도 미래산업의 주역들이 한자리에 모였다. 경북 전역에서 기능경기대회가 개최돼 지역 인재들의 현장형 기술 역량이 겨뤄진다.
경북교육청은 6일부터 10일까지 금오공업고등학교 등 도내 12개 경기장에서 ‘2026 경상북도기능경기대회’를 개최한다고 7일 밝혔다. 올해 대회에는 학생과 일반인 등 301명이 참가해 자신의 기량을 선보인다.
특히 직업계고 재학생 252명이 38개 직종에 출전해 대회 분위기를 이끈다. 대회는 기계, 전기, 전자, 정보기술, 디자인, 요리 등 총 46개 직종에서 진행되며, 신라공업고, 경북소프트웨어마이스터고, 포항제철공업고 등 지역 28개 직업계고 학생들이 학교 대표로 경연에 나섰다.
경기는 그래픽디자인, 게임개발, 산업용로봇, 클라우드컴퓨팅 등 첨단 미래산업 분야부터 요리, 제과제빵 등 생활 밀착형 분야까지 폭넓게 구성됐다. 모든 경기장은 실제 산업현장과 유사한 환경으로 운영돼 참가자들의 실무 역량이 집중적으로 평가된다.
이번 대회 입상자에게는 국가기술자격 기능사 시험 면제 혜택이 주어지며, 오는 8월 열리는 전국기능경기대회 경북 대표로 선발되는 기회도 제공된다. 이에 따라 학교 교육과 취업 현장이 자연스럽게 연결되는 '즉시 현장 투입형 인재 양성'의 구조가 자리 잡고 있다.
임종식 경북교육감은 “경북 직업계고 학생들의 기능 실력은 이미 세계적 수준에 올라와 있다”며 “앞으로도 직업교육 환경을 꾸준히 강화해나가겠다”고 말했다.
경북교육청은 2018년 이후 전국기능경기대회 학생부에서 연속 우승을 차지하며 지역 인재들의 경쟁력을 입증해왔다. 이번 대회 결과 역시 전국대회 준비로 직결될 전망이다.
한편 시상식은 오는 16일 금오공업고에서 열릴 예정이며, 종목별 입상자와 학교별 성과에 따라 지역 산업 인력 양성의 성과를 가늠할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, "The technical skills of students at vocational high schools in Gyeongbuk have already reached a world-class level," adding, "We will continue to steadily strengthen the vocational education environment."
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education has proven the competitiveness of local talent by winning consecutive championships in the student division of the National Skills Competition since 2018. The results of this competition are also expected to serve as a direct step in preparation for the national competition.
The competition is broadly structured to include various fields. Meanwhile, the awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at Kumoh Industrial High School on the 16th, and it appears that the results of training local industrial personnel can be gauged based on the winners in each category and the performance of each school.
