우 후보는 8일 발표한 보도자료를 통해, 이중섭과 구상 시인의 인연과 작품을 바탕으로 ‘동촌유원지 르네상스’ 프로젝트를 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
그는 “이중섭의 ‘동촌유원지’는 대구의 기억과 연결된 소중한 문화자산”이라며, 이를 스토리텔링으로 재해석해 지역 정체성을 되살리겠다고 강조했다.
핵심 사업으로는 아양아트센터와 연계한 복합문화공간 ‘이구동촌아트뮤지엄’ 조성과 청년작가지원센터 설립이 제시됐다. 전시, 교육, 창작 기능을 아우르고, 금호강 강변의 휴식 공간과 먹거리(F&B) 요소를 더해 문화와 상권이 공존하는 명소로 만들겠다는 구상이다.
우 후보는 “금호강 르네상스는 추억과 예술을 결합해 대구를 문화예술 중심 도시로 다시 세우는 프로젝트”라고 설명했다. 다만 캠프 측은 구체적인 사업비와 추진 일정, 아양아트센터와의 협의 내용 등은 추후 공개할 예정이라고 전했다.
