국회 기후에너지환경노동위원회 소속 강득구 의원(더불어민주당, 안양만안)이 8일 국회에서 「나프타 수급 불안 속 드러난 과제, 탈플라스틱 종합대책 보완 방향」 토론회를 개최하고 실효성 있는 대책 마련을 촉구했다.
이번 토론회는 최근 중동 정세 불안으로 플라스틱의 주원료인 나프타 수급이 불안정해진 상황에서, 화석연료와 플라스틱에 대한 높은 의존도를 낮추고 정부의 탈플라스틱 정책을 보완하기 위해 마련됐다.
강 의원은 축사에서 “나프타 수급 불안은 우리 산업과 일상이 화석연료에 얼마나 깊이 의존하고 있는지를 보여주는 단면”이라며, “현 정부의 탈플라스틱 종합대책이 실효성을 거두려면 생산 감축 목표를 포함한 근본적인 보완이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
특히 강 의원은 정책의 일관성 확보를 주요 과제로 꼽았다. 그는 “현장의 혼란을 방지하기 위해 명확한 기준과 중장기적인 방향 제시가 선행되어야 하며, 국제적 흐름에 발맞춘 현실적인 감축 목표 설정이 시급하다”고 밝혔다.
이날 토론회는 서왕진 의원실과 그린피스, 녹색연합 등 환경단체가 공동 주최했다. 발제에 나선 전문가들은 정부의 기존 대책에 대해 ▲플라스틱 생산 감축 목표 구체화 ▲현장 적용성 개선 ▲글로벌 규제 대응 강화 등을 핵심 보완 과제로 제시했다. 특히 일회용품 규제를 넘어 원재료 생산 단계부터 체계적으로 접근해야 한다는 데 의견이 모였다.

Rep.
