[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국민의힘 부산시장 경선 주자인 주진우 의원이 “이재명 정권의 독주를 막고, 부산에서부터 보수의 승리 바람을 일으켜 대한민국 전체의 승리를 견인하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
주 의원은 8일 발표한 입장문에서 “지금 대한민국은 국운이 걸린 중대한 기로에 서 있다”며 “공소취소, 연임 개헌, 조작 국정조사로 권력을 지키려는 이재명 정권의 ‘독재 뉴노멀’은 정치가 아니라 자유를 지키느냐 빼앗기느냐의 문제”라고 강조했다.
그는 “입법·사법·행정 전 분야에서 소리 없는 전쟁이 벌어지고 있고, 부산 또한 예외가 아니다”라며 “부울경 통합으로 도약하느냐, 정치공학적 계산으로 마지막 기회를 놓치느냐가 결정되는 시점”이라고 밝혔다. 이어 “이 처절한 전쟁에서 반드시 승리해야 한다”고 말했다.
주 의원은 자신이 “국회에서 가장 앞에서 싸워온 대여투쟁 1위 의원”이라며 “모두가 피할 때 물러서지 않은 주진우가 전재수 후보를 꺾을 가장 강력한 카드”라고 자신감을 내비쳤다. 그는 또 “의혹 한 점 없고 출판기념회 한 번 열지 않은 깨끗한 손으로 오직 당원과 시민만 바라보겠다”며 “깨끗하기에 당당하고, 당당하기에 강하다”고 강조했다.
이어 그는 “원칙 없는 통합, 가치 없는 통합은 필패”라며 “선거 때만 반짝하는 보수로는 통합도, 지방선거 승리도 불가능하다”고 비판했다. 또한 “당을 지키기 위해 탄핵 반대를 호소할 때 사과부터 요구해서는 안 된다”고 지적했다.
주 의원은 “6·25 피난 시절 ‘공산군이 부산에 오면 가장 앞장서 싸우겠다’던 이승만 대통령의 결사 항전 정신으로 부산을 지켜내겠다”며 “부산에서 돌풍을 일으켜 당당히 북상하고, 보수의 창과 방패가 되어 국민의 승리를 견인하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Rep. Joo Jin-woo, a candidate in the People Power Party’s primary race for Busan mayor, pledged on Wednesday to “stop the Lee Jae-myung administration’s runaway rule” and “ignite a conservative victory starting from Busan to lead the entire nation to success.”
“The Republic of Korea stands at a historic crossroads,” Joo said. “The Lee Jae-myung administration’s so-called ‘dictatorship new normal’—marked by moves such as dropping indictments, pursuing term-extension constitutional changes, and manipulating parliamentary investigations—is not politics but a matter of survival, of whether we protect or lose our freedom.”
He warned that “a silent war is already unfolding across the legislative, judicial, and executive branches—and Busan is no exception,” adding, “This is the moment to decide whether we achieve a leap forward through the Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam (BUG) regional integration or lose our last opportunity to political maneuvering.”
Joo argued that he has “fought most fiercely in the National Assembly and ranked first in battles against the ruling party,” asserting that “the one who never retreated when others did, Joo Jin-woo, is the strongest candidate to defeat Democratic Party’s Jeon Jae-soo.”
He emphasized his clean record: “I have no scandals, never held even a single book-launch event, and will look only to party members and Busan citizens. Because I am clean, I am confident—and because I am confident, I am strong.”
“Unprincipled unity cannot win. Unity without shared values means inevitable defeat,” he said. “A conservatism that only appears during elections can neither unite the party nor win local elections.” Joo also warned, “When we called for opposing impeachment to protect our party, demanding apologies first was the wrong approach.”
Concluding his remarks, Joo invoked the wartime spirit of former President Syngman Rhee: “Just as Rhee vowed to fight at the front lines if Communist forces reached Busan during the Korean War, I will defend Busan with that same resolve.” He added, “I will create a political storm in Busan, advance northward with confidence, and lead both our party’s and our people’s victory. Entrust me with the conservative sword and shield, and I will change this nation.”
