[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 오는 11월 처음 열리는 글로벌 부산디자인페어의 성공적인 개최를 위해 민관 협력 시스템을 구축했다. 이번 행사는 도시 전체를 하나의 디자인 무대로 확장하는 부산형 모델로 추진된다.
부산시는 8일 오후 2시 시청 국제의전실에서 성희엽 미래혁신부시장, 박진석 부산 동구청장 권한대행, 조현민 주식회사 디알비동일 대표가 참석한 가운데 글로벌 부산디자인페어 추진을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
글로벌 부산디자인페어는 국내 최대 규모의 디자인 전문 전시 행사로, 산업 유산과 도시 공간을 전시 콘텐츠와 연계해 부산의 정체성과 디자인 역량을 보여줄 예정이다. 부산시는 세계적 디자인행사인 이탈리아 밀라노 디자인위크의 분산형 도시 전시 방식을 참조해 전시장에 국한되지 않은 개방형 디자인 플랫폼을 조성할 계획이다.
협약에 따라 부산시는 페어의 종합 추진과 정책적·행정적 지원을 담당하고, 부산 동구는 디자인스트리트 조성 등 관련 사업의 원활한 추진을 위한 행정 협력을 맡는다. 주식회사 디알비동일은 장외 전시 장소 제공을 비롯해 민간 부문 협력에 앞장선다. 세 기관은 이 협력을 통해 부산 디자인산업의 경쟁력 강화, 지역 상권과 관광문화 활성화, 민간 참여 확대 및 대외 홍보를 함께 추진하기로 했다.
이번 협약은 도시공간을 기반으로 한 디자인 생태계를 구축하고, 지역 산업 유산을 문화자원으로 전환하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다. 시는 특히 디자인을 경제와 도시 브랜드의 성장축으로 삼아 부산을 디자인 교류와 비즈니스가 활발히 작동하는 도시로 발전시키겠다는 목표를 세웠다.
성희엽 부산시 미래혁신부시장은 디자인은 도시의 미래를 여는 중요한 원동력이라고 강조하며 이번 협약을 계기로 부산의 장소성과 산업 자산을 기반으로 시민과 기업이 함께 성장하는 디자인 생태계를 조성하겠다고 말했다.

The city of Busan has formed a public-private partnership to ensure the successful launch of the Global Busan Design Fair, which will transform the entire city into a stage for design innovation this November.
The signing ceremony took place Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the International Protocol Room of Busan City Hall, attended by Seong Hee-yeop, Busan’s Deputy Mayor for Future Innovation, Park Jin-seok, Acting Chief of Dong-gu District, and Cho Hyun-min, CEO of DRB Dong-il Co.
The Global Busan Design Fair, set to be the largest design-centered exhibition ever held in Korea, aims to highlight the city’s identity and creative capacity by linking design exhibitions with urban spaces and industrial heritage. Inspired by Milan Design Week in Italy, Busan plans to implement its own model that extends beyond an exhibition hall to create a citywide design platform.
Under the agreement, Busan City will oversee the fair’s planning and provide policy and administrative support. Dong-gu District will cooperate in developing the “Design Street” and related projects, while DRB Dong-il will support the event by offering off-site exhibition spaces and private-sector collaboration. The three parties will work together to boost Busan’s design industry competitiveness, revitalize local businesses and tourism through spatial programs, and expand civic and external engagement.
Officials said the partnership will serve as a catalyst for building an urban design ecosystem rooted in Busan’s identity and industrial assets. The city hopes to enhance its standing as a global hub for design exchange and creative business.
“Design is a vital driving force for the city’s future,” Deputy Mayor Seong said. “Through this agreement, we expect the Global Busan Design Fair to expand the city’s potential and establish Busan as a place where design, culture and business actively interact.”
