[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 1조 3,800억원 규모의 ‘함양 AI 데이터센터’ 투자사업이 4월 9일 자로 최종 인·허가를 완료하며 본격 추진 단계에 들어갔다.
이 사업은 전체 계획 중 1차분인 40MW 규모로, 휴천일반산업단지 내 4만 2,738㎡(약 1만 2,928평) 부지에 연면적 3만 807㎡(약 9,319평) 규모로 조성된다.
주요 시설은 전산동 2동(5층)과 운영동 1동(3층)으로 구성되며, 국내 굴지의 건축설계사인 희림종합건축사사무소가 총괄 설계를 맡아 전문성을 더했다.
‘함양 AI 데이터센터’는 기반 인프라 확보 측면에서도 순항 중이다. 지난 2024년 12월 한국전력공사와 전력공급 협약을 체결한 데 이어, 올해 2월에는 100MW 규모의 전력계통영향평가를 통과하며 안정적인 전력망을 구축했다.
특히 환경과 안전 문제 해결에 공을 들였다. 센터가 들어설 휴천일반산업단지는 인근 마을과 1km 이상 떨어진 분지형 지형에 위치해 전자파, 소음, 열섬현상에 대한 우려를 최소화했다.
또한 수자원 보호를 위해 물을 대량 소비하는 방식 대신 공기로 열을 식히는 ‘공랭 방식’으로 계획됐다.
투자사 ㈜오리드코리아는 현재 자금 조달과 고객사 확보를 마무리 짓는 단계로 앞으로 세부 준비를 거쳐 2027년 착공, 2028년 본격적인 운영에 들어갈 계획이다.
함양군 관계자는 “향후 투자사 및 협력사와 함께 주민 설명회를 개최해 소통의 장을 지속적으로 마련할 것”이라며, “사업 진행 상황을 주민들과 투명하게 공유하는 것은 물론, 이번 데이터센터 건립이 차질 없이 추진되어 지역 경제 활성화의 새로운 동력이 될 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”라고 밝혔다.

The ‘Hamyang AI Data Center’ investment project, valued at 1.38 trillion won, has entered the full-scale implementation phase following the completion of final permits on April 9.
This project represents the first phase of the overall plan, with a capacity of 40MW. It will be constructed on a 42,738㎡ (approx. 12,928 pyeong) site within the Huchon General Industrial Complex, featuring a total floor area of 30,807㎡ (approx. 9,319 pyeong).
The main facilities consist of two 5-story computing buildings and one 3-story operations building. Heerim Architects & Planners, a leading domestic architectural firm, took charge of the overall design, adding a layer of expertise to the project. The investor, Orid Korea Co., Ltd., is currently in the final stages of securing funding and clients.
