[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산광역시가 산업 생태계 확장과 일자리 창출을 위한 대규모 투자 유치에 나섰다.
부산시는 9일 시청 영상회의실에서 부산케이블앤엔지니어링과 산업용 특수케이블 생산시설 건립을 위한 투자양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다. 이날 행사에는 박형준 시장과 화통케이블그룹 장슈쥔 총괄대표, 김승일 대표이사, 부산진해경제자유구역청 관계자 등이 참석했다.
부산케이블앤엔지니어링은 화통케이블그룹의 자회사로, 2019년 부산에 설립된 외국인 투자기업이다. 2019년과 2023년에 이어 이번이 세 번째 대규모 투자로, 산업용 특수케이블 생산 확대를 통해 글로벌 전력선 수요에 대응할 계획이다.
이번 투자는 총 3천900만 달러 규모의 외국인직접투자(FDI)를 포함해 약 546억 원에 달하며, 435명의 신규 고용 창출이 예상된다. 회사는 부산 투자 5년 만인 2023년 수출 1억 달러를 달성하는 등 성장세를 이어오고 있다.
부산시는 법인 설립부터 공장 확보, 외국인 투자비자 발급까지 이어지는 원스톱 지원체계를 구축하고, 법무·금융·출입국 분야 유관기관과 협력해 안정적인 투자 환경을 조성해 왔다. 글로벌 공급망 재편 속에서도 기업이 부산을 생산 거점으로 선택한 배경으로 이러한 지원과 물류 경쟁력이 꼽힌다.

장슈쥔 총괄대표는 부산시와 관계기관의 지원에 감사를 표하며 지역경제 활성화와 고용 창출에 기여하겠다고 밝혔다.
박형준 시장은 “소재·부품 기업의 추가 투자는 부산의 투자 환경 경쟁력을 보여주는 사례”라며 “지역 산업 생태계 확장과 양질의 일자리 창출로 이어지도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

The city announced on April 9 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Busan Cable & Engineering to build a production facility for industrial special-purpose cables at City Hall. The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Heong-joon, Huatong Cable Group General Representative Zhang Shujun, CEO Kim Seung-il, and officials from the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority.
Busan Cable & Engineering, a subsidiary of Huatong Cable Group, is a foreign-invested company established in Busan in 2019. This marks its third major investment following earlier expansions in 2019 and 2023, aimed at boosting production of industrial special cables to meet growing global demand for power and specialty cables.
The project includes foreign direct investment worth $39 million, bringing the total to 54.6 billion won, and is expected to create 435 new jobs. The company has maintained strong growth, achieving $100 million in exports in 2023, just five years after entering Busan.
The city has supported investors through a one-stop system covering corporate establishment, factory site acquisition, and visa issuance, while working with related agencies in legal, financial, and immigration services to ensure a stable investment environment. Despite global supply chain uncertainties, the company chose Busan as a reliable production base, highlighting the city’s competitiveness in logistics and business conditions.
Zhang expressed appreciation for the support from Busan and related institutions, pledging continued contributions to the local economy and job creation.
Mayor Park said the investment demonstrates Busan’s strengths as a business-friendly city and pledged full support to ensure it leads to industrial growth and quality employment.
