이날 한국노총 경북본부는 지지결의문을 통해 “경북은 급변하는 산업 구조와 지역 소멸이라는 중대한 위기에 직면해 있다”며 “이를 극복하기 위해 노동의 가치를 이해하고 현장과 소통하는 강력한 리더십이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
이어 “노동자의 권익 신장을 위해 노력하고 서민의 입장을 대변해 온 이철우 후보가 경북의 미래와 도민의 삶을 책임질 적임자”라며 지지 배경을 설명했다.
아울러 한국노총 경북본부는 이 후보에게 노동 현장의 목소리에 대한 지속적인 경청과 함께 노동자 권익 향상, 안전한 일터 조성 등을 주문했다. 또 노사민정 간 화합을 이끌 수 있는 합리적 정책 추진을 통해 도내 노동자와 서민이 함께 성장할 수 있는 기반 마련을 당부했다.
권오탁 의장과 관계자들은 “지역 경제 발전과 일자리 창출을 통해 노동자와 서민이 행복한 경북을 만드는 데 함께하겠다”며 “제9회 전국동시지방선거에서 조직 역량을 결집해 이철우 후보를 적극 지원할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
이에 대해 이철우 예비후보는 “대한민국을 움직이는 힘은 현장에서 땀 흘리는 노동자들”이라며 “현장의 목소리를 정책에 반영해 노동자와 서민이 함께 행복한 경상북도를 만들겠다”고 화답했다.
