이번 협약은 보은군 교육발전특구 사업의 일환으로, 지역과 대학이 연계한 교육 모델을 통해 첨단기술 기반 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 지역 정주형 인재를 양성하기 위해 마련됐다.
협약식에는 기석철 충북대 RISE사업단 AI․모빌리티 공동연구센터장과 한상현 보은교육지원청 교육장을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석했으며, 협약 체결에 이어 향후 협력 확대 방안에 대한 논의도 이뤄졌다.
양 기관은 이번 협약으로 △지역연계 특화 프로그램 공동 운영 △AI·드론·모빌리티 기반 진로교육 강화 △초·중·고 대상 실습형 교육 확대 △지역-대학 연계 인재양성 체계 구축 등에 협력하기로 했다.
특히 핵심 사업인 ‘AI 모빌리티 리더 300’ 프로그램을 통해 보은군 학생들에게 AI 드론, 로봇, 자율주행 기술을 융합한 실습 중심 교육을 제공할 계획이다. 해당 프로그램은 기초 이론부터 실습, 경진대회, 자격증 취득까지 이어지는 4단계 과정으로 운영된다.
또한, 충북대 자율주행 테스트베드(C-track)를 활용한 실증 교육과 드론 기능경기대회, 자율주행 로봇 경진대회 등을 통해 학생들의 실무 경험을 확대하고 전국 단위 대회 참여 기회도 제공할 예정이다. 이번 협력은 지역 교육 인프라 부족으로 인한 격차를 해소하고, 미래 산업 분야의 실무형 인재를 지역 내에서 양성하는 데 의미가 있다는 평가다.
유재수 RISE 사업단장은 “대학의 교육 인프라와 연구 역량을 지역 교육과 연계해 학생들이 지역에서 성장할 수 있는 기반을 마련하겠다”며 “충북형 RISE 모델의 대표 사례로 발전시키겠다”고 말했다.
