개진면에 따르면 올해 봄감자 재배 규모는 총 109농가, 131ha에 달한다. 이 가운데 하우스 감자는 29농가 22ha, 노지 감자는 106농가 109ha에서 각각 재배되고 있다.
특히 하우스 감자는 온도와 생육환경을 조절할 수 있어 노지 재배보다 이른 시기에 출하가 가능해 농가 소득 창출에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다.
올해 하우스 감자 첫 수확은 지난 12일 임승현 농가에서 시작됐으며, 이는 지역 내 감자 출하의 본격적인 시작을 알리는 신호탄으로 평가된다. 첫 출하 물량은 신선도와 품질 면에서 우수해 소비자들로부터 높은 호응이 기대된다.
개진면에서 재배되는 주요 품종은 설봉이 전체의 43%로 가장 큰 비중을 차지하고 있으며, 추백 품종도 18%를 차지하는 등 다양한 품종이 생산되고 있다. 하우스 감자는 1월 초부터 2월 초 사이 파종돼 4월 중순부터 5월 중순까지 수확이 이뤄지며, 노지 감자는 5월부터 6월 사이 본격적인 수확이 진행될 예정이다.
