성주군은 행정안전부 공모사업에 3년 연속 선정된 것을 바탕으로, 4월부터 고독사 위험군 150여 가구를 대상으로 ‘달콤한 편지(안부살핌 우편서비스)’ 첫 배달을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
지원 대상은 사회적 고립 상태에 놓인 청년 가구를 비롯해 고독사 위험이 높은 40~64세 중장년층, 단전·단수나 관리비 체납 등 위기 징후가 있는 복지 위기가구다. 특히 외부 접촉을 꺼리는 고립 청년층에게는 집배원을 통한 자연스러운 물품 전달 방식이 사회와의 연결고리를 회복하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.
사업 추진을 위해 성주군은 성주우체국과 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했으며, 집배원들은 월 2회 대상 가구를 방문해 생필품이 담긴 물품을 전달하고 건강 상태와 주거 환경을 함께 점검한다.
또한 방문 결과는 즉시 군에 공유돼 위기 상황 발생 시 긴급 복지 지원과 맞춤형 서비스로 신속히 연계될 수 있도록 했다.
성주군 관계자는 “우체국과의 협력을 통해 행정의 손길이 미치기 어려운 곳까지 살필 수 있는 촘촘한 복지 안전망을 구축했다”며 “청년부터 중장년까지 누구도 소외되지 않도록 지속적인 복지 행정을 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Based on being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s public contest project for three consecutive years, Seongju County announced that it began the first deliveries of the ‘Sweet Letter’ (well-being check postal service) in April, targeting approximately 150 households at risk of solitary deaths.
The beneficiaries include young adult households in a state of social isolation, middle-aged adults aged 40 to 64 at high risk of solitary deaths, and welfare crisis households showing signs of crisis such as power or water cutoffs or overdue management fees. In particular, for isolated young adults who are reluctant to have contact with the outside world, the natural delivery method via postal carriers is expected to serve as an opportunity to restore their connection with society.
To facilitate the project, Seongju County signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seongju Post Office. Mail carriers visit eligible households twice a month to deliver essential supplies and check on their health status and living environment.
Furthermore, the results of these visits are immediately shared with the county, ensuring that in the event of a crisis, recipients can be quickly connected to emergency welfare support and customized services.
A Seongju County official stated, "Through cooperation with the post office, we have established a comprehensive welfare safety net capable of reaching even the hard-to-reach areas of the administration," adding, "We will continue to pursue welfare administration to ensure that no one, from the youth to the middle-aged, is left behind."
