광주시는 5월 15일부터 광주송정~수서 구간을 오가는 일부 고속열차에 기관차 두 대를 하나로 연결해 운행하는 ‘중련운행’을 시범 시행한다고 밝혔다. 중련운행은 열차 두 편성을 하나로 묶어 운행하는 방식으로, 별도의 열차 추가 편성 없이도 좌석을 두 배 가까이 늘릴 수 있는 효율적인 방안이다.
