지난 4월 11일은 미국과 이란이 파키스탄 수도 이슬라마바드에서 거칠게 설전하며 휴전협상 첫테이블에 앉는 날이다. 이번 이란전쟁와중에서 트럼프는 네타냐후 이스라엘총리와 매일 전화통을 붙들고 산다고 했다. 이스라엘은 이란과 철천지 원수이며 트럼프는 사실상 이스라엘과 한몸인 것처럼 이번 전쟁에 임하면서 이란을 끝장내려고 벼른다. 핵개발능력, 군사시설등을 완전 제거해 반신불수로 만들려 한다.
중동은 화약고다. 시아파 이란은 레바논, 후티, 하마스를 키워 이스라엘을 포위하고, 이스라엘은 사우디 UAE 카타르 쿠웨이트등 순니파국가들을 내편으로 하여 만수산드렁칙 처럼 군사력, 경제력 모든 걸고 지옥끝까지라도 쫓아가 사생결단을 내버리겠다는 혼수상태의 시간을 보내는 중이다. 거기엔 도덕도 이성도 국제법도 없고 오로지 생존본능 하나밖에 없이 살육본능으로 눈이 벌겋게 달아 올라 있다.

여기에다 대고 '외교천재' 이재명 대통령이 지금 전쟁도 아닌 2024년 9월에 벌어진 이스라엘군대가 팔레스타인과 전투중 옥상에서 아이들 시신을 떨어뜨리는 영상을 공유하면서 한국의 위안부,유태인학살, 전시살해는 다를바 없다며 이스라엘의 전시만행을 규탄하는 글을 X에 올렸다. 보기에 따라서 참으로 한가한 참견이다.
지금 일도 아닌 장면을 들고 이스라엘을 정면 비난하면 "적의 적은 친구"라는 논증법에 따라 이란 편을 드는 게 된다. 이는 '적의 적' 논리에 따라 트럼프와 네타냐후를 적으로 삼는 일이다. 지금 생사결판을 다투며 트럼프는 한국이 안도와줬다는 말을 2~3차례 하면서 원망어린 성명을 발표하고 전쟁이 끝나고 나면 어떤 청구서를 내밀지 모르는 판에 이란편으로 오해받아 매를 버는 일이 현명한가?
이스라엘 외교부도 X에 성명을 내 반격했는데 읽어보면 가관이다. "이재명대한민국 대통령의 언급은 결코 용납될수 없으며 이를 강력 규탄한다" 인구 1000만명도 안되는 이스라엘은 국민소득이 5만달러가 넘지만 한국의 세계10위 위치에 비하면 어림없는, 국력차이가 있는 한수 아래의 국가다. 그런데 X성명 내용은 안하무인 하인대하듯 한국과 이대통령을 꾸중했다. 대통령을 적시하여 용납이니 규탄이니 이런 용어가 무슨 망신인가.
생사를 다투는 전쟁통이고 네타내후가 휴전과 동시에 부패혐의로 재판을 받는 초조한 형국이라 제정신이 아닌 상황이기에 저렇게 시정잡배처럼 한국에 예의고 뭐고 없이 나오는 것이다.
왜 그런 불구덩이에 뛰어드는가. 이지명 대통령은 X정치로 상당히 재미를 봐왔다. 부동산을 떄리며 국민들로 하여금 카타르시스를 느끼게 했고 대한상의보고서, 언론사 기자들 주식투자 등의 기사를 X에 공유하며 쾌도난마로 기득권층을 혼내줬다. 박수갈채의 나날이었다. 그러나 생리대가 너무 비싸다니 하는 지나친 디테일 분야에선 종종 고장이 나기도 했다. 그렇지만 이번 이스라엘 인권문제 거론은 매우 신중해야할 외교적 사안이었다. 정말 천재적인 신중함과 배려가 필요하고 미국의 중동전쟁 전체를 아우르는 종합적 사고로 대해야할 과제였다고본다.
이런 문제는 터치않는게 상책일수 있다. 자칫하면 참을수 없는 존재의 가벼움으로 전락해 수습자체가 불가능하게 될수도 있다.

대통령이 수세에 몰리니 박홍근 예산처장관, 박용진 규제위부위원장이 X에 글을 올려 외교천재 흉내를 내면서 대통령을 거드느라 바쁘다. 이러다간 전장관들, 여당의원들이 X에 외교천재 대열에 가담해 대통령을 두둔하는 글을 올려 홍수가 날 것 같다. 트럼프가 X정치를 하면서 한국역사상 이대통령이 처음으로 X정치에 가담해 하루 5~7건씩 글을 올려왔다. 새벽에 올리는 경우도 많다는 기사도 있었다. 대통령 X글에 대해 국내에선 높은 지지율 때문에 국민의힘 외에는 아무도 반박을 못하는데 이스라엘외교부는 눈치도 없이 무례하게 반박했다. 이스라엘 대사관을 침묵시키게 하든지 아니면 국내정치에서 X를 좀더 신중하게 쓰는 계기가 되든지 둘중 하나로 정리가 돼야겠다.

The Middle East is a powder keg. Shia Iran is fostering Lebanon, the Houthis, and Hamas to encircle Israel, while Israel is spending its time in a coma, having won over Sunni nations such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, staking all its military and economic power like a swindler, determined to chase them to the ends of hell and fight to the death. There is no morality, reason, or international law there; driven solely by the instinct for survival, their eyes are burning red with a slaughtering instinct.
Amidst this, President Lee Jae-myung, the "diplomatic genius," posted a message on X condemning Israel's wartime atrocities. He shared a video showing Israeli troops throwing the bodies of children off a rooftop during combat with Palestinians in September 2024—a time when war is not even happening now—arguing that Israel is no different from Korea's "comfort women," the Holocaust, or wartime killings. Depending on one's perspective, this is truly a leisurely interference.
To directly criticize Israel by citing a scene that is not even a current event amounts to taking Iran's side according to the logic of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." This is tantamount to making Trump and Netanyahu enemies based on that "enemy of my enemy" logic. Is it wise to invite trouble by being misunderstood as siding with Iran when the country is currently fighting a life-or-death battle, with Trump issuing resentful statements two or three times claiming that Korea did not help, and with no telling what kind of bill he will present once the war ends?
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also retaliated by issuing a statement against X, but reading it is a spectacle. "The remarks made by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung are absolutely unacceptable and we strongly condemn them." Israel, with a population of less than 10 million and a per capita income exceeding $50,000, is a country that is a notch below Korea in terms of national power—a mere hurdle compared to Korea's position as the world's 10th largest economy. Yet, the content of X's statement rebuked Korea and President Lee as if they were arrogant servants. What a disgrace it is to use terms like "acceptance" and "condemnation" while specifically naming the President.
Because he is in the midst of a life-or-death war and is in a precarious situation where Netan Naehu is facing trial on corruption charges immediately following the ceasefire, he is not in his right mind; that is why he is acting like a common thug, showing no manners whatsoever toward Korea.
Why is he jumping into such a fiery pit? President Lee Jae-myung has benefited considerably from X politics. He provided the public with a sense of catharsis by cracking down on real estate, and he sharply punished the vested interests by sharing articles on X regarding the KCCI report and journalists' stock investments. It was a time of applause. However, he occasionally faltered in areas of excessive detail, such as complaining that sanitary pads were too expensive. Nevertheless, raising the issue of Israeli human rights this time was a diplomatic matter that required extreme caution. I believe it was a task that demanded truly genius-level prudence and consideration, and one that needed to be approached with comprehensive thinking encompassing the entire U.S. Middle East war.
It might be best not to touch on such issues at all. Otherwise, it could devolve into the "unbearable lightness of being," making it impossible to resolve the situation.
As the President is pushed onto the defensive, Minister of Budget and Planning Park Hong-keun and Vice Chairman of the Regulatory Commission Park Yong-jin are busy posting on X to support the President, mimicking diplomatic geniuses. At this rate, it seems likely that former ministers and ruling party lawmakers will join the ranks of these "diplomatic geniuses" on X to post articles defending the President, causing a flood of posts. As Trump engaged in "X-politics," President Lee became the first in Korean history to join in, posting five to seven articles a day. There were even reports that he frequently posted in the early hours of the morning. Domestically, due to the President's high approval ratings, no one other than the People Power Party dared to refute these "X-posts," yet the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded rudely and without any sense of tact.
