대구약령시 개장 368주년을 맞아 열리는 이번 축제는 ‘한방의 길, 대구약령시로 통하다’를 주제로 ‘풍성·가득·재미’ 3개 테마길 중심의 다채로운 프로그램을 선보인다. 전 세대가 함께 즐길 수 있는 콘텐츠를 통해 지역 한방문화의 우수성을 널리 알릴 계획이다.
올해로 48회를 맞는 축제는 5월 7일 시민들의 건강과 행복을 기원하는 약령시 전통 제례행사 ‘고유제’를 시작으로 막을 올린다. 고유제는 국가나 사회에 큰일이 있을 때 신령에게 그 사유를 고하는 전통 제례다.
대한민국 최고(最古)·최대(最大) 한약재 시장으로 꼽히는 대구약령시는 오랜 역사와 전통을 지닌 지역 대표 한방문화 자원이다. 대구시는 한의약에 대한 이해가 낮은 청년층과 외국인을 포함한 다양한 계층에 한방의 가치를 알리기 위해 1978년 첫 축제 개최 이후 행사를 이어오고 있다. 지난해에는 약 10만 명이 축제장을 찾았다.
올해 축제는 참여와 체험 요소를 강화한 3개 테마길로 운영된다.
첫 번째 ‘한방이 풍성하길’ 구역은 먹거리와 체험형 콘텐츠 중심 공간이다. 서편 입구에 마련되는 ‘한방 먹거리장터’에서는 한방 식재료를 활용한 다양한 음식을 맛볼 수 있으며, 모바일 웹 기반 미션 프로그램 ‘약령한방대첩’을 통해 방문객 참여와 상권 활성화를 유도한다.
두 번째 ‘한방이 가득하길’ 구역은 축제의 정통성을 강조한다. 7일 오전 11시 30분 열리는 고유제를 시작으로 취타대 행진과 어지 전달식이 포함된 개막식이 진행되며, ‘황금 둥굴레를 찾아라’ 체험과 전국 한약 종사자들이 참여하는 ‘전승기예 경연대회’ 등 다양한 행사가 마련된다.
세 번째 ‘한방이 재미있길’ 구역은 전 세대가 머물며 즐길 수 있는 공간으로 꾸며진다. 캠핑 콘셉트의 ‘한방 피크닉’ 쉼터와 어린이를 위한 ‘키즈놀이터’가 운영되며, ‘한의체험센터’에서는 지역 한의사들의 무료 건강상담과 추나요법 등 실질적인 의료 체험 서비스도 제공된다.
대구시는 축제 성공 개최를 위해 SNS 퀴즈 이벤트와 유튜브 광고, 지상파 뉴스 및 특집 프로그램 등을 통한 전국 단위 홍보도 병행할 계획이다.

Holding to mark the 368th anniversary of the opening of Daegu Yaknyeongsi, this festival will showcase a diverse range of programs centered around three themed paths—‘Abundance,’ ‘Fullness,’ and ‘Fun’—under the theme ‘The Path of Traditional Medicine, Leading to Daegu Yaknyeongsi.’ The festival plans to widely promote the excellence of local traditional medicine culture through content that can be enjoyed by all generations.
Marking its 48th anniversary this year, the festival kicks off on May 7 with the "Goyuje," a traditional ritual at Yaknyeong Market that prays for the health and happiness of citizens. Goyuje is a traditional rite in which the reasons for major national or social events are reported to the spirits.
Daegu Yaknyeong Market, considered the oldest and largest herbal medicine market in South Korea, is a representative regional resource for traditional Korean medicine culture that boasts a long history and tradition. Since hosting its first festival in 1978, Daegu City has continued to hold events to promote the value of traditional Korean medicine to diverse demographics, including young people and foreigners who have limited understanding of the subject. Last year, approximately 100,000 people visited the festival grounds.
This year's festival will be operated along three themed paths that enhance participatory and experiential elements.
The first zone, "May Traditional Medicine Be Abundant," is a space centered on food and experiential content. At the ‘Hanbang Food Market’ located at the western entrance, visitors can taste a variety of dishes made with traditional Korean medicinal ingredients. Additionally, the mobile web-based mission program ‘Yaknyeong Hanbang Daecheop’ encourages visitor participation and stimulates commercial activity in the area.
The second zone, ‘May Hanbang Be Full,’ emphasizes the authenticity of the festival. Starting with a traditional ritual held at 11:30 AM on the 7th, the opening ceremony will take place, featuring a marching band parade and a royal decree presentation. Various events are also organized, including the ‘Find the Golden Solomon’s Seal’ experience and a ‘Traditional Skills Competition’ involving traditional medicine practitioners from across the country.
The third zone, ‘May Hanbang Be Fun,’ is designed as a space where people of all generations can stay and enjoy themselves. A camping-themed ‘Hanbang Picnic’ rest area and a ‘Kids Playground’ for children will be in operation, while the ‘Korean Medicine Experience Center’ offers practical medical services, such as free health consultations by local doctors and Chuna manual therapy. Daegu City plans to conduct nationwide promotion through social media quiz events, YouTube advertisements, terrestrial news, and special programs to ensure the successful hosting of the festival.
