【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=단양군은 지난 17일 대성산 민주금자탑에서 ‘제66주년 4·19혁명 기념 및 지영헌 열사 추모식’을 거행했다고 밝혔다.
단양군 4·19기념사업회가 주관한 이번 행사에는 김경희 단양군수 권한대행을 비롯해 단양군의회 의장, 단양교육지원청 교육장 등 주요 기관·단체장과 학생 대표, 기념사업회 회원 등 100여 명이 참석했다.
특히 이날 행사에는 지영헌 열사의 여동생인 지정자 씨와 매제 임세규 씨를 비롯해, 66년 전 부상당한 열사를 직접 병원으로 옮겼던 유병하 씨도 함께해 추모의 의미를 더했다.
추모식은 국민의례를 시작으로 경과보고, 헌화, 기념사 및 격려사, 학생대표 헌시 낭독, 기념촬영 순으로 엄숙하게 진행됐다.
김경희 단양군수 권한대행은 격려사를 통해 “오늘날 우리의 민주주의는 66년 전 꽃다운 나이에 불의에 맞서 두려움 없이 거리로 나섰던 지영헌 열사와 수많은 학생, 시민들의 용기와 희생이 있었기에 꽃피울 수 있었다”며 깊은 경의를 표했다.
이어 “열사께서 보여주신 정의와 양심, 공동체를 위한 책임감은 우리 사회의 소중한 근간”이라며 “이 정신을 바탕으로 단양이 더욱 공정하고 따뜻하며 안전한 공동체로 나아갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하고, 열사의 숭고한 뜻을 다음 세대에도 굳건히 이어가겠다”고 강조했다.
한편 단양군 단성면 출신인 지영헌 열사는 1960년 4월 19일 중앙대학교 시위대의 선봉에서 항거하던 중 만 20세의 나이로 순국했다.
현재 열사의 유해는 서울 수유리 4·19국립묘지에 안장돼 있으며, 고향인 단양에서는 1961년부터 매년 추모 행사가 이어지고 있다.

Currently, the Martyr’s remains are interred at the 4·19 National Cemetery in Suyuri, Seoul, and memorial events have been held annually in his hometown of Danyang since 1961.
