DGFEZ(청장 직무대행 강상기)와 포항시는 20일 DGFEZ 비즈니스룸에서 ㈜비케이엠솔과 제조시설 건립을 위한 투자양해각서(MOU)를 맺었다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약에 따라 ㈜비케이엠솔은 2026년부터 2030년까지 포항융합기술산업지구 내 1만196㎡ 부지에 총 83억 원을 투자해 합금분말 및 선재 제조공장을 설립할 계획이다.
1998년 설립된 ㈜비케이엠솔은 특수합금강 분야에서 기술력을 축적해 온 유망 기업으로 평가받는다. 이번 투자와 함께 도입되는 수평연속주조(HCC) 방식은 국내 금속소재 산업 경쟁력을 높일 혁신 기술로 주목받고 있다.
수평연속주조 방식은 용융 금속을 수평 방향으로 인출하면서 냉각·응고시키는 첨단 공정이다. 기존 수직 주조 방식보다 중력의 영향을 덜 받아 금속 내부 불순물 혼입이 적고 조직이 균일하며 치밀한 것이 강점이다. 이를 통해 생산된 제품은 기존 제품 대비 내마모성과 용접성이 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다.
또한 고비용의 복잡한 후속 압연 공정을 대폭 줄이거나 생략할 수 있어 생산시간 단축과 생산성 향상 효과도 기대된다. 회사 측은 이를 기반으로 수입 제품 대비 30% 이상의 가격 경쟁력을 확보하고, 국내 시장의 수입 대체는 물론 동남아시아와 유럽, 미주 시장 등 해외 수출도 적극 추진할 방침이다.

이어 “대구경북경제자유구역청은 기업이 안정적으로 정착하고 글로벌 강소기업으로 성장할 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Under this agreement, BKM Sol plans to invest a total of 8.3 billion won from 2026 to 2030 to establish an alloy powder and wire rod manufacturing plant on a 10,196㎡ site within the Pohang Convergence Technology Industrial District.
Established in 1998, BKM Sol is regarded as a promising company that has accumulated technological expertise in the field of special alloy steel. The Horizontal Continuous Casting (HCC) method, introduced alongside this investment, is garnering attention as an innovative technology poised to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic metal materials industry.
Horizontal Continuous Casting is an advanced process that cools and solidifies molten metal while drawing it out horizontally. Its strengths lie in the fact that it is less affected by gravity than the conventional vertical casting method, resulting in fewer internal impurities and a more uniform and dense microstructure. Products produced using this method are expected to demonstrate significantly improved wear resistance and weldability compared to existing products.
Furthermore, the ability to drastically reduce or eliminate the costly and complex subsequent rolling process is expected to shorten production time and improve productivity. Based on this, the company plans to secure a price competitiveness of over 30% compared to imported products. It intends to actively pursue not only import substitution in the domestic market but also overseas exports to Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

He further added, “The Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority will spare no administrative support to help the company settle in stably and grow into a global small giant.”
