충남교육청이 제46회 장애인의 날을 맞아 장애에 대한 편견을 해소하고 서로의 다름을 인정하는 교육 환경을 조성하기 위해 4월 20일부터 24일까지를 ‘장애공감주간’으로 지정해 운영한다.
교육청의 이번 주간은 장애인과 비장애인이 함께 어우러지는 공감의 장을 마련해 인권 존중의 가치를 확산시키는 데 목적을 두고 있다.
올해는 ‘다양성을 마주해 공감으로, 차이를 품어 존중으로’라는 주제 아래 충남 전역의 학교와 교육지원청에서 다채로운 행사가 이어진다. 단순히 이론적인 교육에서 벗어나 장애 예술인의 공연, 장애 인식 개선 체험, 작품 전시회 등 오감을 활용한 소통 프로그램으로 채워진 것이 특징이다.
주간의 대미를 장식할 24일에는 도교육청 안뜨락에서 특별한 문화 공연이 개최된다.
성악가 방찬우 씨와 사운더블예술단이 출연해 예술을 통한 소통의 메시지를 전달하며, 서산성봉학교와 예산꿈빛학교 등 관내 특수학교 기업 학생들이 직접 제작한 생산품을 전시하고 나누는 뜻깊은 자리도 함께 마련된다.
또한 아산시장애인복지관과 협력하여 운영하는 체험 존에서는 디지털 휠체어 체험과 휠체어 농구 등 신체적 제약을 직접 경험하며 이해를 넓히는 기회를 제공한다. 이와 더불어 발달장애인 미술 작품 전시회를 열어 장애 학생들의 무한한 가능성과 예술적 감성을 공유할 예정이다.
김지철 교육감은 서한문을 통해 “우리 사회에 장애 공감 문화가 깊이 정착될 수 있도록 교육청이 앞장서서 최선을 다하겠다”는 의지를 밝혔다.
