[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 사천시는 제54회 사천 전국 연날리기 대회를 맞아 시민들에게 우리 전통 연 문화의 우수성과 의미를 널리 알리고자 '전통 창작 방패연 전시'를 개최한다.
이번 전시는 20일부터 24일까지 시청사 2층 대회의실 앞 로비에서 진행되며, 사천비연보존회 주관으로 마련됐다.
전시장에서는 전통 창작 방패연 35점이 선보이며, 우리 고유의 연 제작기법과 아름다운 문양을 한눈에 감상할 수 있다.
전시 작품은 한국전통연연구소 강호연가를 운영하고 있는 이종옥 명인의 작품으로 구성된다.
이종옥 명인은 현재 한국전통연지도사협회 회장을 맡고 있으며, 전통연 그림 문양 분야의 명인으로서 국내외 다양한 전시와 대회에서 우리 전통 연의 아름다움을 널리 알렸다.
주요 경력으로는 서울 석촌호수 및 각종 국내외 대회 참가, 대한민국미술대전 초청 전시, 프랑스 세계대회 방패연 출품 및 초청 전시 등이 있다. 그리고, 힐튼호텔과 인터콘티넨탈호텔 등에서 40여 회의 전시를 진행한 바 있다.
또한, 교육청 및 지방자치단체 주관 행사에서 전시와 체험 교육을 통해 전통 연 문화 보급에도 힘쓰고 있다.
아울러, 전통연제작기법(1985), 창작연칠기법(1998), 한국전통연(2017) 등 다수의 저서를 통해 전통 연 제작 기술과 문화적 가치를 체계적으로 정리해 왔다.
