울진해남해녀협회(회장 김풍화)는 ‘제1회 울진 해남해녀 돌미역 축제’를 오는 5월 1일부터 2일까지 평해읍 직산항 일원에서 개최한다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 직산2리 마을회와 돌미역사랑영어조합이 공동 주관한다.
울진 돌미역은 강한 파도와 빠른 조류가 흐르는 청정 해역에서 해남해녀가 직접 채취하는 자연산 수산물이다. 풍부한 영양성분을 함유해 항산화와 면역력 증진에 도움을 주며, 오래 끓여도 쉽게 퍼지지 않고 쫄깃한 식감을 유지하는 것이 특징이다.
축제 기간에는 관광객과 지역 주민이 함께 즐길 수 있는 다양한 체험·문화 프로그램이 마련된다.
주요 행사로는 ▲돌미역 채취 및 건조 체험 ▲돌미역 요리경진대회 ▲돌미역 무료 시식 ▲해남해녀 포토존 ▲수산물 마켓 ▲공연 행사 등이 진행된다. 공연은 울진국악협회, 울진시니어밴드, 인형극 등 다채로운 무대로 꾸며질 예정이다.
축제 관계자는 “이번 축제를 통해 울진 돌미역의 식품영양학적 가치와 해남해녀의 전통 어로 문화를 널리 알리고, 지역 주민 화합과 관광 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.

The Uljin Haenam Haenyeo Association (President Kim Pung-hwa) announced that the "1st Uljin Haenam Haenyeo Stone Seaweed Festival" will be held from May 1 to 2 in the area around Jiksan Port in Pyeonghae-eup. This event is jointly organized by the Jiksan 2-ri Village Council and the Stone Seaweed Love English Cooperative.
Uljin stone seaweed is a natural seafood product harvested directly by Haenam Haenyeo in pristine waters characterized by strong waves and fast currents. It contains abundant nutrients that aid in antioxidant activity and immune system enhancement, and is characterized by its chewy texture that does not easily become mushy even after prolonged boiling.
During the festival, various experiential and cultural programs will be prepared for tourists and local residents to enjoy together.
Major events include a stone seaweed harvesting and drying experience, a stone seaweed cooking contest, free stone seaweed tasting, a Haenam Haenyeo photo zone, a seafood market, and performances. The performances are scheduled to feature a diverse range of acts, including the Uljin Traditional Music Association, the Uljin Senior Band, and puppet shows.
A festival official stated, "We expect this festival to widely promote the nutritional value of Uljin stone seaweed and the traditional fishing culture of the Haenam Haenyeo, while also contributing to community harmony and the revitalization of tourism."
