[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군은 쌍백면 소재 '특별한 정원'을 올해 1분기 사회적농장으로 지정해 제1호 사회적농장이 탄생했다고 22일 밝혔다.

사회적농장은 취약계층을 대상으로 돌봄, 치유, 교육, 고용 등 다양한 서비스를 농업과 연계해 제공하는 농장으로, 농업의 공익적 기능을 바탕으로 지역사회에 필요한 경제·사회 서비스를 실천하는 모델이다.

사회적농장 지정은 농촌 지역 공동체 기반 경제·사회 서비스 활성화에 관한 법률에 근거해 운영되고 있으며, 해당 법은 2024년 8월 17일부터 시행되고 있다. 

현재 경남에서는 거제, 의령, 고성, 김해, 남해, 산청, 하동 등에서 사회적농장이 지정·운영되고 있으며, 합천군은 이번 지정을 통해 도내 사회적농업 확산 흐름에 동참하게 됐다.

특히 이번 지정은 단순한 농장 운영을 넘어 지역 내 취약계층을 위한 돌봄과 치유, 교육, 고용 서비스를 농업과 접목해 제공할 수 있는 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 

아울러 특별한 정원 농업회사법인은 ‘농촌돌봄서비스활성화 지원사업(농촌돌봄농장) 계속사업 대상자 요건도 충족’하고 있어 향후 지역사회 돌봄 기능 강화와 사회적농업 활성화에 더욱 큰 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

합천군 농업기술센터 관계자는 “이번 사회적농장 1호 지정은 농업의 사회적 가치를 확산하고, 지역 중심의 돌봄서비스 체계를 넓혀가는 중요한 계기”라며 “앞으로도 사회적농업 기반을 지속적으로 확대해 군민이 체감할 수 있는 농촌복지서비스 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
