브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당 지도부는 24일 문재인 대통령의 한미정상회담 성과와 관련, 전 분야서 대단한 성과를 이뤘다며 극찬했다.
송영길 민주당 대표는 이날 오전 국회에서 열린 최고위원회의에서 한미정상회담 결과와 관련 "안보와 경제 등 전 분야에서 대단한 성과를 거뒀다. 한미관계가 이전과는 질적으로 다른 전면적인 변화의 계기, 즉 전략적 변곡점에 들어선 것으로 평가한다"고 밝혔다.
송영길 대표는 이어 미국이 성김 대북정책특별대표를 깜짝 지명한 것을 언급하며 "외교적 방법 중심으로 대북 정책 속도 높이겠다는 강한 의지로 읽힌다. 다시 기회가 싹트고 있다"며 북미관계의 전향적 변화에 기대감을 드러냈다.
윤호중 원내대표는 "5·21 한미정상회담은 역사에 길이 남을 것"이라며 "3박5일 짧은 일정이었음에도 이번 방미 성과는 이보다 더 좋을 수 없는 엄청난 성과였다"고 호평했다. 윤호중 원내대표는 미국이 한국군 55만명에 대해 백신 지원 합의를 맺은 것과 관련 "한미동맹의 굳건한 우위를 보여주는 것이다. 한미 군사동맹이 코로나와의 전쟁에서도 굳건한 동맹을 지켜나간다는 것을 의미한다"고 강조했다.

윤 원내대표는 또한 "한미 양국은 안보를 넘어 코로나19 위기 극복은 물론 향후 세계 경제의 글로벌 공급망 재편을 주도해나갈 가장 긴밀하고 포괄적인 선진 경제동맹의 수준으로까지 확대해나갔다"고 설명했다.
강병원 최고위원도 "국민에게 전달할 선물 보따리가 클 것으로 기대했는데 역대급 성과를 이뤄냈다"며 "우리는 백신기술과 원자재를 지원받고 미국은 세계 2위인 대한민국의 의약품 생산능력을 통해 안정적 백신 공급이 가능해, 양국이 윈윈의 결과를 얻었다"고 강조했다.
김영배 최고위원 역시 "양국의 진보 대통령이 절묘한 케미를 선보이며 경제·평화·백신·동맹으로 파트너십을 한 차원 도약시킨 역사적 회담"이라며 "21대 국회가 한반도 평화의 새 시대를 함께 열어내기 위해 판문점선언의 국회 비준을 제안한다"고 극찬했다.
김용민 최고위원은 "일본은 한미정상회담을 애써 평가 절하하고 있는 것 같다"면서 "무역전쟁에서 패한 일본은 우리의 위상이 높아졌다는 사실을 인정하고 싶지 않은 것 같다"고 지적했다. 그러면서 "일부 국내 언론에서도 불공정 보도 또는 오보가 있었는데, 이런 보도 태도는 선진국으로서 우리 국격을 인정하고 싶지 않은 권위주의 정부에서 길들여진 사대주의적 발상이 아닐까"라고 지적했다.
김 위원의 발언 이후 전혜숙 최고위원도 "(일부 언론은) 한국군 55만명의 백신을 지원받는 작은 성과를 위해 (우리 기업이) 44조원이라는 대규모 투자로 일자리를 내줬다고 하는데 칭찬할 것은 칭찬하자"고 거들었다.

"The two countries have not only overcome the Covid-19 crisis but also expanded to the level of the most closely-knit and comprehensive advanced economic alliance that will lead the global supply chain restructuring of the global economy in the future," Yoon said.
Kang Byung-won, a member of the supreme council, also said, "We expected a large bundle of gifts to deliver to the people, but we achieved the best results. We received vaccine technology and raw materials and the U.S. was able to supply stable vaccines through the world's second-largest pharmaceutical production capacity."
Supreme Council member Kim Young-bae also praised the historic meeting, in which progressive presidents of the two countries took the partnership to the next level with economic, peace, vaccines and alliances.
"Japan seems to be trying to devalue the South Korea-U.S. summit," said Kim Yong-min, a supreme council member. "Japan, which lost the trade war, does not seem to want to admit that our status has risen."
