여자배구 세계적 슈퍼 스타인 김연경과 2020 도쿄 올림픽 여자배구 대표팀 선수들이 함께 출연한 예능 프로그램들이 예외 없이 시청률 급등으로 함박웃음을 짓고 있다.
지난달 22일 방송된 MBC '라디오스타' 738회는 김연경과 양효진·김수지·박정아·표승주·정지윤 등 여자배구 도쿄 올림픽 대표팀 선수 6명이 독점 출연했다. 여자배구 대표팀 특집은 지난달 29일 방송된 739회에도 이어져 2주 연속으로 방송됐다.
시청률 조사 회사 '닐슨 코리아'의 발표에 따르면, 22일 방송된 라디오스타 여자배구 특집 1탄은 전국 기준 시청률이 5.4%로 나타났다. 직전 주보다 0.8%p 상승하면서 한 달 만에 4%대를 탈피했다.
2탄인 29일 방송분은 6.3%로 한 단계 더 급등했다. 분당 최고 시청률은 8.4%까지 치솟았다. 수도권 기준 시청률은 7.1%를 기록하며, 더 큰 폭으로 올랐다. 광고 관계자들의 주요 지표이자 채널 경쟁력을 가늠하는 핵심 지표인 '수도권 기준 2049 시청률'도 3.5%까지 상승했다. 그러면서 수요일 전체 예능 프로 중 1위를 차지했다.
배구 실력 못지않은 '예능감'... 팬들도 깜짝 놀라
라디오스타 입장에선 시청률이 한 달 동안 4%대로 주춤한 상태에서 2주 연속 급등해 6%대까지 도달했기 때문에 반전에 대성공한 셈이다.
특히 시청률 상승에만 그친 게 아니라, 스포츠 스타를 모범적으로 활용했다는 점에서 의미가 더 크다고 할 수 있다.

TV 화제성 분석 기관인 '굿데이터코퍼레이션'이 공개한 자료에 따르면, 이날 나 혼자 산다에 출연한 김연경은 9월 2주차 '비드라마 출연자 화제성' 순위에서 전체 1위에 등극했다.
지난달 26일 김연경과 김희진·오지영·염혜선·이소영·안혜진·박은진 등 7명이 출연한 SBS 런닝맨(572회)은 전국 기준 시청률 5.9%를 기록했다. 이는 직전 주 시청률 4.3%와 비교해 1.6%p 급등한 수치다.
수도권 기준 시청률은 6.3%로 더 크게 올랐다. 분당 최고 시청률도 9.4%까지 치솟았다. 특히 '수도권 기준 2049 시청률'에서 4.2%를 기록하며, 일요일 전체 예능 프로그램 중에서 '깜짝 1위'를 차지했다. 상당히 고무적인 일이라고 할 수 있다.
9월 4주차 화제성 순위에서도 여자배구 대표팀 선수들이 출연한 런닝맨(4위)과 라디오스타(5위)가 모두 비드라마 부문 상위권에 진입했다. 김연경은 '비드라마 출연자 화제성' 순위에서 라디오스타(3위), 런닝맨(8위) 출연자로 두 번이나 상위권에 이름을 올렸다.
