대구가톨릭대, DCU 공로자 묘역 조성

대구가톨릭대(총장 우동기)가 발전기금 기부자 예우를 위해 DCU 공로자 묘역을 조성한다고 13일 밝혔다.

대구가톨릭대는 가톨릭 군위묘원과 협의를 마치고 이곳 8지구 5단지에 500여 기 규모의 DCU 공로자 묘역을 조성할 계획이다.

특히 발전기금 1억 원 이상 기부자가 사망할 경우, DCU 공로자 묘역에 조성된 묘지를 제공하고 기일에는 추모미사를 봉헌하며 관리까지 맡는다고 전했다. 뿐만 아니라 1억 5천만 원 이상 기부자는 배우자에게도 묘지를 제공하고 관리할 계획이다.

경북 군위군 군위읍에 위치한 가톨릭 군위묘원은 천주교 대구대교구에서 운영하고 있으며 납골묘는 영구 보존·관리하고, 매장묘는 최대 60년까지 보존·관리할 수 있다.

최근 지방 사립대는 학생 충원율 하락, 10년 이상 등록금 동결, 구조조정 기금 마련 등의 3중고에 시달리며 재정난 해소에 안간힘을 쏟고 있어 열악한 재정 상황을 타개하기 위해서는 발전기금 모금이 매우 중요한 만큼 고액 기부자 유치와 관리에 심혈을 기울일 수밖에 없는 상황이다.

이에 대구가톨릭대는 기부자 예우 수준을 더욱 높임으로써 발전기금 모금 활성화를 기대하고 있다.

우동기 대구가톨릭대 총장은 "우리 대학은 발전기금 기부자를 위한 월례 감사미사를 봉헌하고, 명예의 전당에 기부자의 이름을 새겨 감사의 마음을 간직하는 등 다양한 방법으로 발전기금 기부자 예우에 큰 정성을 쏟고 있다"고 말했다.
